RESUMEN

Objective:To Compare root resorption between T loop technique and sliding technique of orthodontic treatment.Meth-ods:90 patients with Angle class I malocclusion were orthodontically treated by MBT fixed appliances with T loop technique(n =45) and sliding technique(n =45)respectively.Root resorption of the patients were examined by grading evaluation method with orthopan-tomography and periapical films before and after orthodontic treatment.Results:After orthodontic treatment the tooth root resorption rate increased(P 0.05).Root resorption mostly occurred in the incisors,especially in mandibular tooth.Conclusion:There is no difference of the effect of root resorption between T loop technique and sliding technique of orthodontic treatment in patients with Angle class I malocclusion.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To quantify, for each activation, the effect of preactivations of differing distribution and intensity on the neutral position of T-loops (7-mm height), specifically the horizontal force, moment to force (M/F) ratio, and load to deflection ratio. METHODS: A total 100 loops measuring 0.017 x 0.025 inches in cross-section were divided into two groups (n = 50 each) according to composition, either stainless steel or beta-titanium. The two groups were further divided into five subgroups, 10 loops each, corresponding to the five preactivations tested: preactivations with occlusal distribution (0degrees, 20degrees, and 40degrees), gingival distribution (20degrees), and occlusal-gingival distribution (40degrees). The loops were subjected to a total activation of 6-mm with 0.5-mm iterations. Statistical analysis was performed using comprised ANOVA and Bonferoni multiple comparison tests, with a significance level of 5%. RESULTS: The location and intensity of preactivation influenced the force intensity. For the M/F ratio, the highest value achieved without preactivation was lower than the height of the loop. Without preactivation, the M/F ratio increased with activation, while the opposite effect was observed with preactivation. The increase in the M/F ratio was greater when the preactivation distribution was partially or fully gingival. CONCLUSIONS: Depending on the preactivation distribution, displacement of uprights is higher or lower than the activation, which is a factor to consider in clinical practice.

RESUMEN

OBJETIVO: avaliar o sistema de forças gerado pela mola T utilizada para fechamento de espaços. MÉTODOS: por meio do método experimental fotoelástico, avaliou-se a mola T utilizada no fechamento de espaços com duas variações de pré-ativação em sua porção apical, sendo uma com 30º e a outra com 45º. As molas foram confeccionadas com fio retangular de titânio-molibdênio (TMA) de secção 0,017" x 0,025", centralizadas no espaço interbraquetes de 27mm e ativadas em 5,0mm, 2,5mm e posição neutra. Para melhor confiabilidade dos resultados, os testes foram repetidos em três modelos fotoelásticos igualmente reproduzidos e confeccionados pelo mesmo operador. Para compreensão dos resultados, as franjas fotoelásticas visualizadas no polariscópio foram fotografadas e analisadas qualitativamente. RESULTADOS: por meio da análise qualitativa da ordem de franjas no modelo fotoelástico, notou-se que, nas extremidades de retração e ancoragem, a mola T com 30º de ativação apical apresentou um acúmulo de energia discretamente maior para o sistema de forças liberado.


OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the force system produced by the T-spring used for space closure. METHODS: By means of the experimental photoelastic method, we evaluated the T-spring-used for space closure-with two different preactivations on its apical portion, i.e., one with 30º and one with 45º. The springs were fabricated with rectangular 0.017 X 0.025-in titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA), centered in a 27.0 mm interbracket space and activated at 5.0 mm and 2.5 mm, and in a neutral position. For more reliable results, tests were repeated on three photoelastic models duplicated and prepared by the same operator. To better understand the results, the fringes seen in the polariscope were photographed and analyzed qualitatively. RESULTS: Through qualitative analysis of the fringe order in the photoelastic model it was noted that at the retraction and anchoring ends the T-spring with 30º apical activation showed a slightly greater accumulation of energy relative to the force system that was generated.

RESUMEN

The segmented TMA T-loop spring, used for reciprocal space closure and described by Burstone, was used to achievebodily movement of canine. Photoelastic analysis is a technique for the transformation of internal stress into visible light patterns. The two-dimensional photoelastic stress analysis was performed, and stress distribution was recorded by photography. The purpose of this study was to visualize photoelastically the distribution of forces transmitted to the alveolus and surrounding structures using new segmented TMA T-loop spring for canine retraction. The results were as follows: 1. Decreased activation produced decreased stress of upper 1st. premolar extraction site and increased intrusive stress of upper 1st. molar, regardless of T-loop position. 2. At 5mm activation, More posterior positioning of T-loop produced an increased stress in upper 1st. premolar extraction site. 3. At 3mm activation, More posterior positioning of T-loop produced an increased stress in upper 1st. premolar extraction site and mesial lower half of upper 1st. molar mesio-buccal root. 4. At 1mm activation, More anterior positioning of T-loop produced an increased stress in upper mesial and blew apex area of upper canine root. 5. 0.25 B/L ratio and 3mm activation produced bodily movement of canine. To summarize, desired tooth movement and anchorage requirement is possible by altering the activation and mesio-distal position of the T-loop spring.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study was to find the difference of stress distribution on canine altered by the application point of preangulated T-loop spring T-loop spring. For this study, the finite element models of upper left canine, upper left second premolar and upper left first molar were made. Also, the finite element models of 0.017X0.025 inch preangulated, preactivated T-loop spring and 0.018X0.025 inch stainless steel wire were made. Three types of T-loop spring were made : the middle of activated T-loop is positioned in accordance with the middle position of distance of bracket position of both the canine and first molar, 2mm anterior, 2mm posterior. We compared the forces and the distribution of stress that were generated by the difference of position of T-loop spring. The results were as follows. 1. All of the 3 types of T-loop spring showed the similar retraction forces. 2. All showed the similar amount & pattern of stress distribution. 3. The centers of rotation of canine in 3 types of T-loop spring were same and were positioned between C and D plane. 4. The canine showed the intrusive force by 2mm anterior positioned T-loop spring, but the extrusive force by 2mm posterior positioned T-loop spring. Neverthless, because of the small amount of the forces, the effect of vertical force was not significant.
