RESUMEN
Wumei pill from the "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" is widely used in clinical practice. This article reviews the pathogenesis of Wumei pill and its clinical application in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology and ENT, in order to provide reference for its clinical application.
RESUMEN
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effectiveness and safety of Jin's three-needle combined with Jiawei wumei pill in the treatment of menopausal insomnia.METHODS:One hundred and sixty-five patients with perimenopausal insomnia were selected from our hospital during Jan.2015-Mar.2016,and then divided into group A (n=41),group B (n=41),group C (n=41) and group D (n=42) according to random number table.Group A was given Estazolam tablet 1 mg,qd;group B was given Jin's three-needle 30 min/time,qd;group C was given Jiawei wumei pill,one pill,after breakfast and supper warm taking;group D was given Jin's three-needle combined with Jiawei wumei pill with same usage as group C.Four groups were treated for 4 weeks.PSQI score,modified Kupperman score,life quality score,serum levels of E2 and FSH were observed in 4 groups before and after treatment,and the occurrence of ADR was recorded.RESULTS:Before treatment,there was no statistical significance in above score (P＞0.05).After treatment,PSQI score and modified Kupperman score of 4 groups were decreased significantly,compared to before treatment;the group B,C,D were significantly lower than the group A;the group D was significantly lower the group B,C,with statistical significance (P＜0.05).The life quality score of 4 groups were increased significantly,and the group B,C,D were significantly higher than the group A;the group D was significantly higher than the group B,C,with statistical signifi cance (P＜0.05).E2 level of group B,C,D were significantly increased,while FSH level was decreased significantly,the improvement of group D was significantly better than group B,C;the improvement of group D was significantly better than that of group B,C,with statistical significance (P＜0.05).The incidence of ADR in group A was significantly higher than group B,C,D,with statistical significance (P＜0.01),and there was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR among group B,C,D,with statistical significance (P＞0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Jin's three needle combined with Jiawei wumei pill is effective in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia with good safety.

Background:Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic and nonspecific intestinal inflammatory disease and its pathogenic mechanism has not yet been clarified. Intestinal mucosal immune function disorder may play a key role in the pathogenesis of UC. Aims:To investigate the effects of Wumeiwan on expressions of δ-opioid receptor(DOR),β-arrestin1 and Bcl-2 in rats with colitis. Methods:Fifty-six Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into model group,Wumeiwan group, mesalazine group and blank group. Rats in model group,Wumeiwan group and mesalazine group were administered intrarectally with 5% TNBS and 50% ethanol to induce experimental colitis. After colitis models were established,rats in Wumeiwan group and mesalazine group were administered intragastrically with Wumeiwan and mesalazine suspension, respectively,and rats in model group and blank group were given intragastrically with 0. 9% NaCl solution,all for 15 days. On day 16,all the rats were sacrificed and colon samples were obtained. Protein and mRNA expressions of DOR,β-arrestin1 and Bcl-2 in colonic tissue were determined by immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR,respectively. Results:The inflammatory injury in colonic tissue of rats with experimental colitis was significantly attenuated when treated with Wumeiwan,Protein and mRNA expressions of DOR,β-arrestin1 and Bcl-2 in colonic tissue of model group were significantly higher than those of blank group(P 0. 05). Conclusions:DOR-β-arrestin1-Bcl-2 signal transduction pathway may play a central role in the pathogenesis of UC. Intervening this signaling pathway may be one of the mechanisms of attenuating UC by Wumeiwan.

Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of Wumei Pill in the treatment of cold-heat complex diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome.Methods Modified Wumei Pill was adopted to treat 46 cases of cold-heat complex diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome.Five main symptoms of stool frequency,stool shape and properties,abdominal pain and discomfort,bowel gurgling,vulnerable to the cold were observed.The symptom scores before the treatment and 1 week,2 weeks and 4 weeks after the treatment were evaluated.Results After the treatment of 1 week,2 weeks and 4 weeks,the overall efficiency was 58.70％(27/46),84.78％(39/46),and 97.83％(45/46) respectively,and there were significant differences in curative effect between the different treatment courses (between treatment of 2 weeks and 1 weekx2＝8.571,between treatment of 4 weeks and 2 weekx2=16.426,between treatment of 4 weeks and 1 week x2=35.622).Effective rate of symptoms after 4 weeks treatment were respectively:stool frequency 82.05％ (32/39),stool shape and properties 95.56％ (43/45),abdominal pain and discomfort 92.86％ (39/42),bowel gurgling 85.71％ (18/21),vulnerable to the cold 64.29％ (27/42),and there was obvious differences in effective percentage of five kinds of symptoms between treatment of 4 weeks and 1 week (Stool frequency x2 =7.123、stool shape and properties x2 =13.611、abdominal pain or discomfort x2 =7.721、bowel gurgling x2=10.096、vulnerable to the cold x2=10.769).Conclusion.The clinical effect of Wumei Pill for the treatment of cold-heat complex diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome was defined.
