RESUMEN

@#AIM: To evaluate the clinical effects of using anti-VEGF drugs combined with Steroids to treat macular edema(ME)secondary to retinal vein occlusion. <p>METHODS: Chinese and English electronic databases(Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI, Wanfang and Weipu)were searched to obtain qualified random controlled test(RCT)researches from their foundation to January 2020. According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, two researchers retrieved the literature independently, extracted data and evaluate methodological quality. Review Manager 5.3 was used for Meta-analysis.<p>RESULTS: A total of 5 RCTs were identified with 212 patients. There was no significant difference in patients' best correct visual acuity(BCVA)improvement in 1mo, 3mo and 6mo between anti-VEGF combined with steroids and anti-VEGF monopoly. Significant difference was found in the relieve of ME in 1mo and 3mo(1mo: <i>MD</i>=-20.89, 95% <i>CI</i>: -34.65 to -7.13, <i>P</i>=0.003; 3mo: <i>MD</i>=-22.83, 95% <i>CI</i>: -33.68 to -11.97, <i>P</i><0.0001), but not in 6mo between two groups. As for side effects and complications, the combination group occurs more often than the monopoly group(<i>P</i>=0.02). Meanwhile, significant difference was found in the number of injections between two groups(<i>P</i><0.001). <p>CONCLUSION: Compared with the single use of anti-VEGF drugs, anti-VEGF drugs combined with corticosteroids for the treatment of ME secondary to RVO have the characteristics of rapid onset, fewer injections, and more economical. The treatment process should closely follow the patient's intraocular pressure and lens status.

RESUMEN

AIM: To investigate the change of myopic choroidal neovascularization treated by ranibizumab and evaluate their value in monitoring the effect of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) therapy. ·METHODS: The study enrolled 30 patients ( 30 eyes ) diagnosed with myopic choroidal neovascularization. All affected eyes were treated with intravitreal ranibizumab 0. 05mL ( 10mg/mL ). Best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) , non-contact tonometer, ophthalmoscope, fundus fluorescein angiograph ( FFA ) and OCTA were evaluated monthly until 6mo. The changes of BCVA and central macular thickness ( CMT) were compared at 1, 3 and 6mo after treatment. ·RESULTS:All patients received an average of 1. 70±0. 65 injections. BCVA was 0. 96 ± 0. 17 ( LogMAR ) before therapy, and BCVA 1, 3 and 6mo after treatment respectively improved by 0. 23 ± 0. 09, 0. 34 ± 0. 07, 0. 38 ± 0. 11. The differences were significant ( t=5. 461, 8. 191, 8. 894; P<0. 05 ). Mean CMT decreased form 281. 07 ± 13. 72μm to 261. 33 ± 13. 13μm, 243. 47 ± 16. 65μm, 234. 73 ± 17. 52μm respectively 1, 3 and 6mo after treatment, showing significant differences (t=12. 007, 13. 360, 9. 531;P<0. 05). OCTA revealed a progressively smaller vascular lesion and reduction in capillary density. · CONCLUSION: Intravitreal ranibizumab for CNV secondary to pathologic myopia is effective and safe;OCTA is a noninvasive and time-saving new technology, and it also is a promising tool for clinicians to make preliminary diagnosis and assess treatment efficacy in the follow-up visits.

RESUMEN

Neovascularization is the main cause of blindness, such as diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity and age - related macular degeneration. Vascular endothelial growth factor( VEGF) plays an important role in the formation of angiogenesis, and is considered to be the most potent angiogenic growth factor. Placental Growth Factor(PlGF) is one of the VEGF family, which play a crucial role in endothelial cell proliferation and migration, angiogenesis, and immune - mediated inflammation. Meanwhile, PlGF is specifically expressed in pathological angiogenesis, but not in normal blood vessels. In recent years, there has been increasing attention to PlGF, therefore this article reviews the role of PlGF in neovascular ocular diseases.

RESUMEN

Photodynamic therapy ( PDT ) is a new technique to diagnose and treat diseases with photodynamic effect produced by photosensitizer and light, and is now a main method of treating exudative age - related macular degeneration ( AMD ) . ln recent years, with the development of science and technology, combinations of PDT have become a research hot spot. ln this paper, we reviewed the research status of treatments on exudative AMD with PDT combined anti-VEGF drugs.
