Señor editor: La propagación de enterobacterales productoras de carbapenemasas se ha convertido en una importante amenaza para la salud mundial. El gen blaOXA-48 produce una carbapenemasa de clase "D" (según la clasiï¬cación de Ambler) que expresa un fenotipo resistente a penicilinas, penicilinas con inhibidores de beta-lactamasas, cefalosporinas de primera generación y sensibilidad reducida a los carbapenemes, sensibilidad reducida o casi nula a las cefalosporinas de amplio espectro.
