RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo characterize a cluster epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)on campus in Baotou city and provide evidence for the prevention and control of COVID-19 in universities. MethodsField epidemiological investigation was conducted to determine the confirmed cases and close contacts in the cluster epidemic of COVID-19 in a university of western China in 2022. Descriptive analysis was utilized to illustrate the epidemic timeline and schematic diagram. Real-time quantitative fluorescent PCR(RT-PCR) was used to detect the nucleic acid of SARS-CoV-2 in the collected samples. ResultsA total of eight students were infected in the cluster epidemic on campus, including 2 confirmed cases and 6 asymptomatic cases. Case A1 infected other 7 students in the same dormitory or on the same floor by close contact. After a 10-day quarantine and medical observation, no further case was reported. The overall incidence rate was 1.22% and the incidence rate among close contacts was 2.24%. ConclusionThis cluster epidemic of COVID-19 is characterized by strong and fast transmission. Repeated contact with no personal protection in confined space is highly vulnerable to cluster epidemic. Prevention of cluster epidemics on campus remains crucial to contain the epidemic. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the management of campus containment, interrupt the transmission route, identify close contacts and implement quarantine management as early as possible to avoid the cluster epidemics on campus.

RESUMEN

Cost data caliber governance is key to fine cost management. To tackle the troubles in cost data management at multiple campuses of one hospital, the authors built a multi-campus cost data caliber governance mode. By means of enhanced top-level design, the mode carried out data governance by such measures as the establishment of data dictionary mapping library, standardizing department names and caliber, classification of charging items of medical services, precisely matching between fixed assets and charging items, interconnecting the management system of charging library and the procurement library of consumables, as well as precisely matching surgical disease types and charging items. These measures accomplished the consistency and comparability of cost data across campuses, building an automated, streamlined, standardized and integrated data governance mode for reference of hospitals with multiple campuses in need of cost management.

RESUMEN

In the era of the new healthcare reform, high-quality cost accounting can effectively enhance the business performance of public hospitals. Compared with single-campus hospitals, the cost accounting of multi-campus hospitals is faced with greater complexity and challenges. The authors analyzed cost accounting problems found in the latter, namely the lack of top-level design in the construction of a fine multi-campus cost accounting system, difficulty of reasonable collection and allocation of various costs, lack of strong information support, outdated research methods used in item cost accounting among others, as well as their causes. On such basis, the authors put forward countermeasures for high-quality cost accounting in multi-campus hospitals, for the purpose of fully leveraging the leadership of cost control in the high-quality development of public hospitals.

RESUMEN

Background and Objective@#The sexual and gender minorities (SGMs) are at risk for various health disparities. To address this, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls for the training of healthcare providers who demonstrate cultural competence. To facilitate this, studies have suggested the inclusion of SGM-specific constructs in the curriculum that is complemented with campus climate-related efforts. This study aimed to determine the degree of coverage of cultural competence towards the SGM constructs in the required curriculum and describe the campus climate towards the SGM of a dental school in the Philippines from the students' perspective. @*Methodology@#A convergent parallel mixed-methods design was employed. A survey questionnaire was developed and administered to determine the coverage of SGM-specific constructs. This was followed by semi-structured interviews to discuss the campus climate towards the SGM. Data collection utilized a twostage stratified random sampling method for the survey while a purposive sampling method was used for interviewing dental students enrolled in a private, non-sectarian school. @*Results and Conclusion@#Survey results show that the most reported covered concepts are the oral manifestations of sexually transmitted diseases and the use of inclusive terminologies. Interview responses reveal instances of inadvertent perpetuation of heteronormative ideologies, however, the campus climate is perceived as neutral towards the SGM. The integration of the two datasets reveals incongruences between the curricular coverage and the perceived campus climate. Nevertheless, findings imply that the dental curriculum remains largely objective and asexual. Additionally, the integration underscores the importance of complementing curricular content with an inclusive campus climate in developing cultural competence among dental students.

RESUMEN

Objective: To determine the prevalence of mosquito larvae in campus areas and the infection rate of endosymbiotic bacteria, Wolbachia in mosquito larvae. Method: The mosquito larvae samples were collected in residential areas and academic buildings of Suranaree University of Technology located in Northeastern Thailand during 2017-2018. Mosquito species identification was performed using GLOBE mosquito protocols and Rattanarithikul & Panthusiri's keys. The gene encoding for the surface protein of Wolbachia was amplified by PCR and confirmed by DNA sequencing. Results: Armigeres sp. is the highest proportion of mosquito larvae followed by Culex spp., Aedes albopictus, Aedes aegypti, and Toxorynchites spp., respectively. Aedes aegypti have breeding sites mostly in the containers found indoors, whereas the main breeding sites of Aedes albopictus were found in both outdoors and indoors. The House Index and Breteau Index for Aedes spp. was more than 5% and 20%, respectively, in both areas, indicating that these areas are dengue sensitive. The highest proportion of Wolbachia infection was found in the larvae of Culex spp. (86.21%), followed by Aedes albopictus (69.23%) and rarely detected in Aedes aegypti (9.09%). Conclusion: The present study reported the first natural infection of Wolbachia in mosquito larvae in Thailand. Our result suggested that the mosquito species containing higher proportion of Wolbachia are less likely to be vectors for dengue. Therefore, Wolbachia transfection in mosquito larvae could be applied as a biocontrol for dengue and other mosquito-borne disease prevention.
