RESUMEN

Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is a typical hair issue, which may have obliterating mental and social outcomes and is portrayed by the nearness of nonscarring alopecia. Objective: This examination has targets to assess the serum nutrient D levels , with AA; contrast the outcome and clearly sound control; and confirm relationship between AA types and serum nutrient D levels. Patients Also Methods: the examine might have been led clinched alongside Tikrit educating healing facility throughout those time starting with June 2019 of the limit for January 2020. Irrefutably the quantity of subjects associated with the assessment was ninety individuals isolated in two social events; the patients bundle were forty five the people who whimper of AA while the resulting gathering including a forty five age and sex-made solid volunteers were picked as a benchmark gathering. The degree and movement of the alopecia were noted and the patients were meticulously broke down for signs of various ailments. Research center assessments were led to patients and also to those control population, these included serum vitamin D levels were measured as 25-hydroxyvitamin D {25(OH)D} using a chemiluminescence microparticle immunoassay. Blood models were gotten starting with patients and control subjects after totally taught consent was gotten. Results : An essential complexity may have been found for serum 25-OH Vit D levels between patients other than controls. Vitamin D sufficiency were more common in controls than in patients. Serum Vitamin D was deficient in both cases and controls group; but, the deficiency was significantly more throughout AA group (35. 6%) compared to the handle group (11. 1%). Among the list patients gathering, levels associated with nutrient D were totally higher in guys in contrast with females. Conclusions: AA might be related with nutrient D deficiency as mean degrees of nutrient D of patients were seen as fundamentally lower than typical sound controls.

RESUMEN

Protein phosphorylation is one of the most common post-translational modifications (PTMs)in various organisms, which plays critical roles in the regulation of intracellular biological processes, such as cell prolifera-tion,signal transduction, metabolismis and tumorigenesis. However, the low abundance of phosphoprotein in the biological systems poses significant challenges of current analytical techniques. In order to further understand the phosphoproteomics, the roles of phosphorylated proteins in life process, discovery of biomarkers, diagnosis and treatment of disease, enrichment strategies of high efficiency have been developed, including the design of new nanomaterials and combination of a variety of analytical methods,et al.In this paper,we reviewed the develop-ment of enrichment strategies for phosphoproteomics and application of phosphoproteomics in disease.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To introduce and compare research support for rare disease and orphan drug innovation in China and United States, and provide reference for relevant policies in China. METHODS: Data of main source of funding for rare disease research in two countries ie. National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration in the United States and National Natural Science Foundation of China were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: US NIH gives substantial support for rare disease research every year with funded capital growing. FDA Orphan Products Grants program provides incentives for sponsors to develop products for rare diseases. In China, however, there is no specific support project for rare disease research, and there is a huge gap in funding efforts for rare disease research between China and the United States. CONCLUSION: China should establish rare disease research center to promote rare disease research and set up specific funding for rare diseases research, increase efforts to support research and innovation for rare diseases and orphan drugs, in order to protect the health interests of patients with rare diseases.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To report a rare case of episcleritis as the only manifestation of neurosyphilis. CASE SUMMARY: A 40-year-old female was referred to the outpatient clinic because of right episcleritis that was unchanged during the month of treatment. Her headache persisted, and slit lamp examination showed tortuous congestion of engorged episcleral vessels with swelling in the superior-temporal region of the right eye, but fundus and radiological studies showed normal findings. Serological tests were reactive for venereal disease research laboratory test, treponema pallidum hemagglutination assay test, and fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption test. Under the suspicion of persistent syphilis infection, cerebrospinal fluid examination was performed, and the diagnosis of neurosyphilis with episcleritis was diagnosed. Treatment consisted of intravenous injections of 5 million IU penicillin G potassium every 4 hours for 14 days. The ocular inflammation resolved within the first week of treatment and did not recur. CONCLUSIONS: We report a case of intractable episcleritis that required examination for syphilitic infection using serological and CSF tests, and the appropriate antimicrobial therapy for syphilis with follow-up examinations.

In order to improve the laboratory diagnosis of syphilis as an infectious and contagious disease in blood donors, we performed this study to determine the reliability of the specific: Enzyme Immunoassay (Elisa) and Immune-chromatography (IC) tests, the unspecific: Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) test and the Unheated serum regain (USR) Serologic tests to rule out syphilis from blood donors of the Dr Adolfo Pons Hospital in Maracaibo, Zulia state. We analyzed 481 sera from apparently healthy blood donors, male and female, 18 to 60 years of ages. From the samples analyzed by Elisa 10 were positive (2.07 percent) and 8 (1.66 percent) by IC. VDRL detected 4 (0.82 percent) reactive sera and USR just 2 (0.421 percent). We concluded that Elisa with VDRL are the safest and more reliable tests to rule out syphilis from blood donors, since they gave in parallel reliable results to assure the quality of blood to be transfused
