RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the role of SDH2 gene in the environmental adaptability of Candida albicans. Methods Wild-type C. albicans strain SC5314, SDH2 gene knockout mutant sdh2Δ/Δ and reintegrated strain sdh2Δ/SDH2 were used as experimental objects. Spot assay was conducted to assess the sensitivity of the WT C. albicans strain SC5314, SDH2 gene knockout mutant sdh2Δ/Δ and reintegrated strain sdh2Δ/SDH2 to external stress stimulants and antifungal drugs. The effect of SDH2 gene deletion on drug efflux ability of C. albicans was determined by rhodamine 6G efflux assay. Results After SDH2 gene deletion, C. albicans showed slight tolerance to cell wall stress stimulants caffeine, oxidative stress stimulators diamide and menadione. Notably, the sensitivity of SDH2 gene knockout mutant sdh2Δ/Δ to azole antifungal drugs was significantly increased. The drug efflux capacity of C. albicans was decreased due to the deletion of SDH2 gene. Conclusion SDH2 gene deletion lead to changes in environmental adaptability of C. albicans, including changes in response to external environmental stress and increased sensitivity to azole antifungal drugs. The development of fungal-specific inhibitor targeting SDH2 gene may lead to the discovery of new antifungal drugs which have synergistic effect with azole drugs.

RESUMEN

TA (Toxin-Antitoxin) systems are widely spread in chromosomes and plasmids of bacteria and archaea. These systems consist of two co-expression genes, encoding stable toxin and sensitive antitoxin, respectively. The toxicity of toxins usually inhibits bacterial growth and antitoxins can neutralize the toxins. Interaction between them would regulate the growth state of bacteria precisely. According to the composition of TA and nature of antitoxin, six types of TA have been found. The role of these TA systems in bacteria has been a hot research topic in recent years. Now, the research status on functions of bacterial TA is reviewed.

RESUMEN

Objective To estimate deployment of field medical equipment, which is aim at the manifold differences between field medical equipment in wartime or emergencies and common hospital equipment. Methods Based on a good many factors, the system of comprehensive evaluation index on field medical equipment deployment were built up. The model of comprehensive evaluation index was established in applicant of a grey system theory. By discriminating model parameters, the order of comprehensive evaluation is involved in various medical equipment deployments. Results The examples of the evaluation show that is simple and convenient, lesser relevance in indicators and the evaluative results and actual position are conformity. Conclusion The evaluated results of field medical equipment deployment are important for the selection of field medical equipment, which can meet all deployable conditions in wartime or various emergencies. At the same time, the theoretic method has also settled the foundation in evaluation of other military equipment deployment.
