RESUMEN

The so-called "blunt" or flapless surgery is considered less traumatic or invasive. However, as there is a need for rupture of the epithelial tissue performed by surgical drills or other means, the term is conceptually incorrect and known as marketing. The objective of the present study is to discuss the technique in the so - called blunt surgeries considered by the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO) as an irregular or misleading advertisement, even when preceded by tomographic planning and performed by means of surgical guides. Furthermore, the lack of bone limits this type of surgery, in which case conventional surgery with mucoperiosteal flap elevation is indicated. As a consensus, is there a significant increase in apical lesions in implants related to this technique? (AU)

(AU)

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the effects of berberine and 6-shogaol on Notch signaling pathway in colonic epithelial cells of mice with ulcerative colitis. Methods: A total of 50 Kunming mice were randomly selected as normal group, and the remaining 40 mice were treated with po 2% DSS to induce ulcerative colitis. The rats were randomly divided into model group, berberine group, 6-shogaol group, and berberine + 6-shogaol group. The corresponding drugs were given by ig administration. Colon tissues were taken after 20 d of administration. The protein expression of Hes-1, Math-1, MUC2, and olfm4 in colon epithelium was detected by immunofluorescence method, and the gene and protein expression of Notch-1, Hes-1, Math-1 in colon epithelium were detected by qRT-PCR and Western blotting. Results: Compared with the model group, the protein and mRNA expression of Notch-1, Hes-1, and olfm4 in colon epithelium of mice in 6-shogaol group, berberine group, and berberine + 6-shogaol group were significantly decreased, while the expression of Math-1 and MUC2 were significantly increased. Among three groups, berberine + 6-shogaol group showed the best effect. Conclusion: Both 6-shogaol and berberine can effectively repair damaged colonic mucosa and treat ulcerative colitis. The combined use of berberine and 6-shogaol is more effective than the single application. Its mechanism is related to inhibiting the over-activation of Notch pathway and regulating the proliferation and differentiation of colonic epithelium.

RESUMEN

The traditional primary culture methods of human normal epithelial cells have disadvantages of low activity of cultured cells, the low cultivated rate and complicated operation. To solve these problems, researchers made many studies on culture process of human normal primary epithelial cell.In this paper,we mainly introduce some methods used in separation and purification of human normal epithelial cells, such as tissue separation method, enzyme digestion separation method, mechanical brushing method, red blood cell lysis method, percoll layered medium density gradient separation method. We also review some methods used in the culture and subculture, including serum-free medium combined with low mass fraction serum culture method, mouse tail collagen coating method, and glass culture bottle combined with plastic culture dish culture method. The biological characteristics of human normal epithelial cells, the methods of immunocytochemical staining, trypan blue exclusion are described. Moreover, the factors affecting the aseptic operation, the conditions of the extracellular environment, the conditions of the extracellular environment during culture, the number of differential adhesion, and the selection and dosage of additives are summarized.

RESUMEN

The continuous growth and proliferation of cells are essential for the wound healing process, and the amino acid transporters plays an important role in the continuous growing and proliferating cells. Among the amino acid transport systems, the amino acid transport system L, which is a Na+/-independent neutral amino acid transport system, is a major route for providing living cells including tumor cells with neutral amino acids including several essential amino acids. In the present study, to elucidate the role of amino acid transport system L in the wound healing process, we investigated the expression pattern of LAT1 and LAT2 in the healing process after inflicting the wound on skin of rat. The expression of LAT1 was increased at 12 hours after inflicting the wound and was similar to the control group getting closer to 7 days. The expression of LAT2 was increased at 1 day and 3 days after inflicting the wound and was similar to the control group getting closer to 7 days. These results suggest that the LAT1 and LAT2 play important roles at the early stage and at the middle stage getting closer to normal skin in the wound healing process after inflicting the wound, respectively.

RESUMEN

Secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI) is a serine protease inhibitor with anti-microbial properties found in mucosal fluids. At the tissue level, the ability of this 12kDa protein is to counteract the excessive degradation of functional and structural proteins such as collagen and fibronectin. Impaired healing states are characterized by excessive proteolysis and often bacterial infection, leading to the hypothesis that SLPI may have a role in this process. To investigate the role of SLPI in skin how it contributes to tissue repair, we have generated mice null for the gene encoding SLPI (Slpi), which show impaired cutaneous wound healing with increased inflammation. For the purpose of this, we have performed wound experiment in skin tissue with morphometrical analyses, immunohistochemistry, and Rnase protection assay. From these analyses, the results were that delayed healing in KO mice wounds compared to that of WT, prolonged inflammatory phase and increased TGF-beta1 in KO wounds, and lower mechanical properties in KO wounds. Taken together, SLPI may play a cruical role in cutaneous wounds healing especially in matrix reorganization that suggests the development as a clinical drug for wound healing.

RESUMEN

The authors report a case of malignant teratoma in a 3-year-old girl who suffered from occipital headache and vomiting for about 2 months. The tumor occupied left cerebellopontine angle resulting in a moderate degree of hydorcephalus. Histologically, the tumor consisted mainly of neuroepithelial tissues showing varying degrees of differentiation, with areas of epidermis, mature fat tissue, connective tissue, gastrointestinal glands and smooth muscle bundles containing ganglions. Also noted are groups pf polygonal or spindle cells representing immature mesodermal tissue. In contrast to two malignant intracranial teratomas previously reported in Korean literatures, this case is characterized by the presence of predominent neuroepithelial components and by uncommon tumor location, the posterior fossa far from middle line of the body.
