ABSTRACT The Colombian Pacific is a territory-region occupied mostly by black communities that have a traditional way of life based on fishing, agriculture and traditional extractivism. However, with the arrival of developmental logics, this way of life begins to undergo transformations that place traditional territorialities in confrontation with other logics external to the community. Therefore, the objective here is (1) to characterize the traditional Afro-Colombian way of life, especially in its symbolic relationship with artisanal fishing, (2) to identify fishing territorialities and (3) to analyze the territorial conflicts present in Bahía Solano. For this, fieldwork was carried out with participant observation, ethnographic reports, photodocumentation and interviews with a semi-structured script, with the aim of providing a contribution from an interdisciplinary perspective, still absent in research in this region. It was observed that with the insertion of communities into "external" and more profitable productive logics, such as tourism, drug trafficking and industrial fishing, new territorialities are superimposed. In these new territorialities, as in the more traditional ones, the sea is a necessary element for the reproduction of the Afro-Colombian way of life, especially through work and food.
RESUMEN
Enzymes are widely used in chemical and pharmaceutical industries because of their advantages of high efficiency and specificity. However, the shortcomings of the free enzymes, such as poor stability and difficulty in recycling, limit their application. Therefore, the immobilization and application of enzymes have become one of the research hotspots. The selection of the immobilization carriers is a critical step in the process of enzyme immobilization. Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs), a kind of porous materials, are formed by the coordination of metal ions or metal clusters with organic ligands. As an emerging immobilization carrier, its advantages such as high porosity, strong stability, and surface modifiability make it ideal for immobilized enzyme carriers. By immobilizing the free enzyme on MOFs, the above mentioned deficiencies of the free enzymes can be effectively solved, which greatly broaden the applicable condition. Ligand fishing is a method to find receptor-specific ligands from complex components, which has the advantages of high efficiency, simple sample pretreatment and high specificity. The MOF-enzyme complex formed by enzyme immobilization can act as a "fishing rod" for ligand fishing, which can screen out the targets from the complex system of components. The complex chemical composition and various active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) make the ligand fishing technology to play a big role in the screening of enzyme inhibitors from TCM. And the screened enzyme inhibitors are expected to be further developed into the lead compounds with good efficacy and low adverse effects, so the immobilized enzymes of MOFs have a wide application in the screening of active ingredients from TCM. Based on this, this paper summarized the methods of immobilized enzymes of MOFs in recent years, analyzed the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of each method, and summarized the laws of preparation conditions and mechanisms. Meanwhile, the application and future development of immobilized enzymes of MOFs in the field of enzyme inhibitor screening from TCM were also summarized and prospected, with a view to providing a reference for the development of natural ingredients and the modernization of TCM.

RESUMEN
Introduction: Until today, the fishing effort by foreign fleets in the Costa Rican Pacific has not been analyzed. Objective: To determine the spatial distribution of the fishing effort of those fleets, variables that shape that distribution, and if they interact with management figures and highly fragile ecosystems. Methods: Using fishing effort data from 2012 to 2020, obtained from Global Fishing Watch, an Index of Fishing Effort (IEP) was calculated to apply geospatial and multivariate statistics, as well as multiple regression models. A grid with 55 905 cells of 0.10 degrees was used to apply Hot Spot Analysis, and another grid with 24 176 cell-year-month analysis units of 0.25 degrees was used to apply a Linear Regression Model. Results: The data reveals the fishing activity of international fleets associated with four types of fishing gear, and a wide coverage of a high IEP by two fleets throughout the nine years analyzed. The IEP is primarily associated with location and varies by month and year. There is also relative evidence that its influenced by the concentration of oxygen and nitrates. Conclusions: International fleets come into direct conflict with officially defined zones for national fleets and disrespect protected oceanic areas and a declared non-fishing zone to protect marine resources in the Costa Rican Pacific. Their activities in the Dome may affect a national yellowfin tuna fishery.

Purpose: Indian fishermen belong to a marginalized population and are continuously exposed to extreme occupational hazards and sunlight. A high prevalence of visual impairment (VI) is reported in the coastal fishing community. We aimed to investigate the association between VI and sunlight exposure measurement (SEM). Methods: In this cross?sectional observational study, 270 eyes of 135 participants were enrolled from a coastal fishing village. Participants underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination, which included best?corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and anterior and posterior segment examination. Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) and SEM questionnaire were administered to estimate the level of dry eye and ultraviolet?B (UV?B) exposure, respectively. VI was defined as presenting visual acuity worse than 6/12 (logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution [logMAR] > 0.3). Results: The mean age and spherical equivalent were 50.56 ± 11.72 years (range: 18–80 years) and 0.36 ± 1.68 diopters (D) (range: ?7.0 to +3.0 D), respectively. Age, SEM, OSDI, fishing as an occupation, and cataract were significantly associated with higher odds of VI in univariate analysis. Refraction, gender, education level, smoking status, amblyopia, systematic, and other ocular diseases were not significantly associated with VI. In the multivariate analysis, age, SEM, and presence of cataract remained significantly associated with a higher risk for VI. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values for age and SEM scores demonstrate a fair index of discrimination for the detection of VI. Conclusion: SEM level is directly associated with a higher risk of VI among fishermen. The fishing community might benefit from regular eye examinations and awareness about the harmful effects of sunlight exposure and preventive measures.

RESUMEN
Abstract In fisheries, the phenomenon known as fishing down food webs is supposed to be a consequence of overfishing, which would be reflected in a reduction in the trophic level of landings. In such scenarios, the resilience of carnivorous, top predator species is particularly affected, making these resources the first to be depleted. The Serra Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus brasiliensis, exemplifies a predator resource historically targeted by artisanal fisheries on the Brazilian coast. The present work analyzes landings in three periods within a 50-year timescale on the Parana coast, Southern Brazil, aiming to evaluate whether historical production has supposedly declined. Simultaneously, the diet was analyzed to confirm carnivorous habits and evaluate the trophic level in this region. Surprisingly, the results show that from the 1970's to 2019 Serra Spanish mackerel production grew relatively to other resources, as well as in individual values. The trophic level was calculated as 4.238, similar to other Scomberomorus species, consisting of a case where landings increase over time, despite the high trophic level and large body size of the resource. The results agree with a recent global assessment that has demystified a necessary correlation between high trophic level and overexploitation, but possible factors acting on the present findings are discussed.

(AU)
Introduction: Artisanal fishing enables both income generation and the extraction of products for subsistence, and is a strategy for the continuity of the lives of fishermen and shellfish gatherers women. The eating practices of these populations are related to culture and tradition and are linked to socioeconomic and demographic conditions. Objective: understand the relationship between dietary practices and the situation of Food and Nutrition Security and the health conditions of shellfish gatherers women from Island Itaparica, Bahia. Methods: this research used the qualitative, descriptive, analytical approach was used. Individual in-depth interviews were carried out and the Brazilian Scale of Food Insecurity was applied to enable the classification of the food security situation and measure the difficulty of shellfish gatherers in accessing food, in addition to the field diary that was adopted as an important tool for the process of immersion in the subject field. The analysis of the narratives was based on approximations with hermeneutics-dialectics. Results: The shellfish gatherers women participants of this study are black women, aged between 22 and 70 years old, all have children and find shellfish farming a strategy to provide for their families. Discussion: Socioeconomic vulnerability exposes this population to a nutritionally inadequate diet, which reflects negatively on health conditions. All interviewees live in a situation of food and nutrition insecurity. The risk of hunger is a permanent aspect among these women, and artisanal fishing is the main strategy for coping with food insecurity. (AU)
RESUMEN
Introduction: The prediction of potential fishing areas is considered one of the most immediate and practical approaches in fisheries and is an essential technique for decision-making in managing fishery resources. It helps fishermen reduce their fuel costs and the uncertainty of their fish catches; this technique allows to contribute to national and international food security. In this study, we build different combinations of predictive statistical models such as Generalized Linear Models and Generalized Additive Models. Objective: To predict the spatial distribution of PFZs of the dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus L.) in the Colombian Pacific Ocean. Methods: We built different combinations of Generalized Linear Models and Generalized Additive Models to predict the Catch Per Unit Effort of C. hippurus captured from 2002 to 2015 as a function of sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a concentration, sea level anomaly, and bathymetry. Results: A Generalized Additive Model with Gaussian error distribution obtained the best performance for predicting PFZs for C. hipurus. Model validation was performed by calculating the Root Mean Square Error through a cross-validation approach. The R2 of this model was 50 %, which was considered suitable for the type of data used. January and March were the months with the highest Catch per Unit Effort values, while November and December showed the lower values. Conclusion: The predicted PFZs of C. hippurus with Generalized Additive Models satisfactorily with the results of previous research, suggesting that our model can be explored as a tool for the assessment, decision making, and sustainable use of this species in the Colombian Pacific Ocean.

ABSTRACT The Cardenal (Paracheirodon axelrodi) is the ornamental fish species most commercialized in Inírida region of Colombia. Structure of size and weights, reproductive periods and maturity mean length estimations were obtained from specimens collected from the local fishing activity. Records of precipitation and flow rate of the Inírida river (for the period 1972 - 2016), were used to determine the climatological pattern of the study area. A size range between 8.18 and 29.28 mm was detected, with a highest frequency of small sizes and weights registered both during February-April and August-September, suggesting a recruitment processes during these periods of the year. The Gonado-Somatic Indicator suggests increased reproductive activity concentrated in specimens over 20 mm (Lm50% = 26.3 mm) in total length; observing a main reproductive period between the months of June and July, and a secondary process at the end of the year (November). The climatological pattern of the region is characterized by a gradual process of "ascending waters" until reaching a maximum river flow (August, 5685.1 ± 966.6 m3 s-1) and rainfall (June, 518.6 ± 182. 7 mm), followed by a process of "descending waters" that reaches a seasonal minimum of the flow (890.3 ± 310.5 m3 s-1) during March after the minimum of rainfall (January, 92.8 ± 53.2 mm); This hydrological pattern seems to modulate both the dynamics of reproductive processes and the fishing exploitation of this resource. The results suggest moving towards specific closed seasons, aimed at protecting cardinal reproductive processes, and implementing a management considering minimum sizes in the capture and commercialization stages of the main ornamental fish exploited in the country.
RESUMEN
In India, an estimated half a billion people work in fishing-related jobs. Trawler fishermen are frequently exposed to long hours of fuel exhaust, but little is known about the adverse effects of this exposure. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of respiratory illness among Fishing Trawler workers and its association between the working environment quality. This crosssectional study was conducted from April 2021 to June 2021 among adults engaged in trawler fishing in Tamil Nadu using an interviewer administered semi structured questionnaire and the data was analysed using SPSS version 16. The prevalence of respiratory symptoms was 81% and respiratory illness was 36.5% with signi?cance between years of working(p=<0.05), days a month worked(p=<0.05), hours of exposure(p=<0.05), history of smoking(p=<0.05) and air quality(p=0.05). Trawler fishermen's respiratory health may be compromised by fuel exhaust and exposure duration. More attention and surveillance of trawler fishermen's occupational health is required
RESUMEN
Shrimp trawling is considered a significant negative impact on the marine ecosystem, especially on the benthic community. Sea stars (Echinodermata: Asteroidea) are one of the most affected groups by unintentional catches. This study was performed at the Santana Archipelago, a Marine Protected Area in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro State, between 2008-2009. Sea stars accidentally caught by trawling were collected during open and closed season of the shrimp fisheries (Xiphopenaeus kroyeri) at depths of 5-60 m. A generalized linear zero-inflated model was applied to test for differences in capture between fishing seasons and depths. A total of 158 sea star specimens were captured. These specimens were identified as Asterina stellifera, Astropecten acutiradiatus, Astropecten brasiliensis, Astropecten cingulatus, Luidia alternata alternata, Luidia clathrata, Luidia ludwigi scotti, Luidia senegalensis. The sea stars A. brasiliensis and L. senegalensis are currently considered as vulnerable species in the Brazilian official list of threatened species. The higher capture of sea stars was shown in deepest areas, and there was no significant difference in the number of specimens between seasons. This is the first study about asteroids accidentally captured by shrimp trawling.(AU)

Abstract Considering the public health emergency of international importance caused by COVID-19, artisanal fishing workers, engaging in a dialogue with Brazilian leaders and scholars, created an Observatory on the impacts of this pandemic on fishing communities in March 2020. The purpose of this article is to analyze the experience of popular surveillance of fishermen and fisherwomen's health through daily reports produced at the Observatory. It is a monitoring process that allowed broadening the recognition of the diversity of vulnerable populations' ways of life that intertwine health, environment and work. The study used a qualitative, horizontal and emancipatory methodology and sought approaches to the practice of the ecology of knowledges, with the following results: shared construction of information and knowledges based on heterogeneous social experiences; practice of collective ombudsman with the appreciation of knowledges built in social struggles); joint assessment of public health inequities, territorial conflicts, and environmental, structural, and institutional racism; guidance of social leaders and fundraising through public notices. Thus, the dynamics and horizontality of learning based on solidarity and social emancipation from inter-knowledge are revealed.

Abstract In 2019, an oil spill of yet unknown origin affected several locations on the Brazilian coast. The purpose of this research was to capture the perceptions of women shellfish gatherers in the Jaguaribe River estuary, Ceará, about exposure to oil and its consequences. The focal group technique was used for data collection and the Iramuteq software for the processing and analysis of the material. The results indicated the creation of two analytical categories: Social, economic, food production and consumption implications of shellfish gatherer families; and the knowledges, the participation and the surveillance in the context of (in)visibility of exposure to oil. It was observed that shellfisherwomen and their families constitute a population that is very exposed to the negative impacts caused by the oil spill, as they are significant from the socioeconomic, environmental, food production, consumption and health perspectives. Attention is drawn to health and social assistance policies for these fisherwomen/shellfish gatherers, with consequences on the food, water and nutrition security of families and the recognition of their knowledges and practices, constructed within a traditional way of life that produces and reproduces the existence in a close society/nature relationship.
