Objective To study the endogenous metabolites of liver-kidney deficiency syndrome in knee-joint osteoarthritis (KOA) and explore the metabolic profile of KOA liver-kidney deficiency syndrome. Methods Totally 50 cases of KOA with liver-kidney deficiency syndrome and 50 cases of KOA with non-liver-kidney deficiency syndrome were collected respectively, and 20 cases of healthy volunteers were collected as the normal group. The serum samples of subjects were collected after fasting for 8 h. Hydro-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) spectrometer was collected. Principal component analysis and partial least squares discrimination analysis were used to conduct multivariate statistical analysis. Results 1H-NMR could identify 23 kinds of metabolites, and there was statistical significance between KOA patients and healthy volunteers (P<0.05, P<0.01). There was statistical significance in cartilage matrix metabolism, energy metabolism, lipid metabolism, pain, inflammation-related metabolites in patients with KOA liver-kidney deficiency syndrome and patients with KOA non-liver-kidney deficiency syndrome (P<0.05). Conclusion Patients with KOA liver-kidney deficiency syndrome have a unique 1H-NMR metabolic profile, KOA syndrome has a metabolic material basis.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of electronic moxibustion in treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy (liver-kidney deficiency type).Methods Ninety patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (liver-kidney deficiency type) were randomized to a treatment group (44 cases) and a control group (46 cases).The treatment group received electronic moxibustion and the control group,Chinese herbal fumigation of feet.Both groups were treated 10 times as a course for a total of three courses.The TCM symptom total score and the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (MNSI) score were recorded in the two groups before and after treatment.The clinical therapeutic effects were compared between the two groups.Results There was a statistically significant pre-/post-treatment difference in the TCM symptom total score in both groups after one,two and three courses of treatment (P<0.01).The TCM symptom total score improvement rate was (60.9±16.7)% in the treatment group and (56.6±19.2)% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01).The total efficacy rate was 97.7% in the treatment group and 95.7% in the control group;there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).The pre-/post-treatment MNSI score difference value was (2.98±3.66) in the treatment group and (0.78±2.92) in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01).Conclusions Electronic moxibustion is an effective way to treat diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Its therapeutic effect is slightly better than that of Chinese herbal fumigation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture at specific points plus kidney-reinforcing Chinese herbal medicine in treating cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy (liver-kidney deficiency type).MethodNinety patients with cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy (liver-kidney deficiency type) were allocated, using a random number table, to a treatment group of 45 cases and a control group of 45 cases. One case dropped out in the control group. The treatment group received acupuncture at Baihui(GV20), Dazhui(GV14), Houxi(SI3), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Taixi(KI3) and Xuanzhong(GB39) plus oral administration of six ingredients with rehmanniaplus radix puerariae formula and the control group, oral administration of six ingredients with rehmannia plus radix puerariae formula alone. The clinical therapeutic effects were evaluated after eight consecutive weeks of treatment.ResultThe total efficacy rate and the cure rate were 91.1% and 62.2%, respectively, in the treatment group and 77.3% and 34.1%, respectively, in the control group; there were statistically significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). The therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group than in the control group. After treatment, the difference values ofthe vertigo severity, frequency and duration, headache, neck and shoulder pain, and life and work scores on the scale werehigher in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionAcupuncture at specific points plus Chinese herbal medicine is more effective than Chinese herbal medicine alone in treating cervical spondylotic vertebral arteriopathy (liver-kidney deficiency type).

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect and safety of Yinao Capsul es for neurasthenia with the syndrome of liver-kidney deficiency and Qi-yin de ficiency. Methods A multi-center,randomized,single-blind and positive drug p arallel controlled trial was adopted. Three hundred and forty-two cases in the treatment group were treated with Yinao Capsules,and 111 cases in the control g roup were treated with Naolinsu Capsules. Results Yinao Capsules had a total eff ective rate of 93.6 %and the markedly effective rate of 52.1 %. Compared with Naolinsu Capsules,Yinao Capsules showed a better clinical effect (P
