RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical efficacy of herb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription in the treatment of infertility induced by idiopathic asthenozoospermia (iAZS) with kidney-Yang deficiency and collateral obstruction syndrome and its effect on sperm DNA damage and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the seminal plasma. MethodsA total of 112 eligible patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into an observation group (56 cases) and a control group (56 cases). The patients in the observation group were treated with herb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription, while those in the control group received levocarnitine oral liquid. The primary observation indicators included spouse pregnancy rate, progressive motility (PR),and total sperm motility, and the secondary observation indicators included sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI),SOD in the seminal plasma, and improvement of TCM syndromes. The treatment cycle was 12 weeks. Before and after treatment, the PR,total sperm motility, sperm DFI,SOD in the seminal plasma, and TCM syndrome scores were recorded. The patients were followed up for 12 weeks and the pregnancy status of spouses within 24 weeks (half a year) was recorded. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated. ResultThe pregnancy rate of spouses in the observation group was 15.69% (8/51), higher than 3.85% (2/52) in the control group (χ2=4.118,P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 88.24%(45/51), superior to 69.23% (36/52)in the control group (Z=-3.402,P<0.01). After treatment, PR, total sperm motility, sperm DFI, SOD in the seminal plasma, and TCM syndromes of the two groups were improved compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the observation group was superior to the control group (P<0.05). ConclusionHerb-partitioned moxibustion on the navel combined with Yishen Tongluo prescription in the treatment of iAZS-induced infertility patients with kidney-Yang deficiency and collateral obstruction syndrome can increase PR,total sperm motility, and SOD level in the seminal plasma, reduce sperm DFI,improve the TCM symptoms of patients, and improve the pregnancy rate of spouses. The mechanism may be attributed to the fact that this treatment can increase the SOD level in the seminal plasma of patients, enhance the body's antioxidant function, protect sperm from oxidative stress damage, and reduce sperm DFI.

RESUMEN

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy between the reducing manipulation of intention acupuncture-moxibustion method and ordinary twirling reducing manipulation in treating neck-type cervical spondylosis due to wind-cold-dampness.Method A total of 132 patients with neck-type cervical spondylosis due to wind-cold-dampness were randomized into group A and group B,66 cases each.Ashi points were selected as the major points in both groups. In group A,the reducing manipulation of intention acupuncture-moxibustion method was required to be used;in group B,dry twirling reducing manipulation was adopted.TDP and cupping were added in both groups. The Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire (NPQ) and Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) were measured before and after the intervention. The clinical efficacies and relapse rates were compared between the two groups.Result The NPQ and NRS scores were changed significantly in both groups after the treatment (P<0.01).After the intervention, the NPQ and NRS scores in group A were significantly different from those in group B (P<0.01).The total effective rate and markedly effective rate were respectively 98.5% and 87.9% in group A,versus 97.0% and 71.2% in group B,and the difference in the markedly effective rate was statistically significant (P<0.05).Of the effective cases in group A,the relapse rate was 4.6% 3 months after the intervention, versus 17.2% in group B,and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion It's effective to treat neck-type cervical spondylosis due to wind-cold-dampness majorly with intention acupuncture-moxibusiton method, and it can produce a better result than ordinary twirling reducing manipulation.

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo summarize point Shenmai(BL62)indications and the characteristics of acupuncture and moxibustion by sorting out literature on point Shenmaiin ancient literature.MethodShenmai, Yangqiao and Guilu were used as search words to search Chinese Medical Classics to sift out items on indications for point Shenmai and its combination and the characteristics of point combination and acupuncture and moxibustion and establish the relevant database. Statistical analysis was made using the SPSS19.0 software.ResultTwo hundred and eighty-seven items on point Shenmai and 274 items on the indications met the inclusion criteria. There were 47 indications for the single acupoint and 19 kinds of diseases on which the single acupoint had a marked therapeutic effect. Lumbago, ophthalmalgia, vertigo, headache and mania were ranked in the top five. There were 64 indications for its combination and 22 kinds of diseases on which its combination had a marked therapeutic effect. Epilepsy, Lumbago, stroke, podalgia and headache were ranked in the top five. The commonly used depth of needle insertion was 3 fen, acupuncture time was 6-7 respiratory cycles and stimulation intensity of moxibustion was 3 moxa cones.ConclusionSingle point Shenmai and its combination are both good at treating internal medicaldiseases and especially meridian diseases in the limb. Acupuncture and moxibustion are the commonly used methods.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the effect of different temperature moxibustion on serum IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-αcontents in acute adjuvant arthritis rats and provide a basis for the mechanism of local anti-inflammatory and immune action of moxibustion. Methods A rat model of adjuvant arthritis (AA) was made by Freund’s complete adjuvant (FCA) modeling method. Of 32 SD rats, 8 were randomly selected as a normal group and the other 24 for model making. After successful model making, the rats were randomly allocated to model, treatment 1 and treatment 2 groups, 8 rats each. Treatment 1 and 2 groups received moxibustion. Local temperature at moxibustion point was controlled at (38±1)℃in treatment 1 group and at (45±1)℃in treatment 2 group. Rat serum IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-αcontents were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results There were statistically significant differences in serum IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-αcontents between the model, treatment 1 or treatment 2 group and the normal group (P<0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in serum IL-2 content between treatment 1 and the model groups (P<0.01). There were statistically significant differences in serum IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-αcontents between treatment 2 group and the model or treatment 1 group (P<0.01). Conclusions Moxibustion has a reducing effect on serum IL-1βand TNF-αcontents and a raising effect on IL-2 content. 45℃moxibustion temperature can improve the effect of moxi bustion. The anti-inflammatory action of moxibustion may be through the mechanism of reducing serum IL-1βand TNF-αcontents and raising IL-2 content, which relieve body inflammatory reaction. The action of moxibustion needs proper moxibustion temperature.
