Overview on the modern development of fire needling device: from tradition to innovation / 中国针灸

The appropriate needle device is crucial for obtaining the curative effect of fire needling therapy. The article introduces the material specification, clinical operation, indications, characteristics and advantages of the contemporary traditional fire needling devices (e.g. He's fire needle and Shi 's fire needle) and the contemporary new-type ones (e.g. fire needling with filiform needle and micro-needle); and determines the innovations of modern fire needling. It is anticipated that the needle specifications, production process and operation standard of fire needling devices should be further unified so as to provide the references for the selection of fire needling devices in treatment based on clinical syndrome differentiation and expand the clinical application of fire needling therapy.

Ideas for Safer Acupuncture Practice (1) / 全日本鍼灸学会雑誌

We have been collecting various ideas on safer acupuncture practice from participants in our workshop as well as members of the committee. Subjects and presentations of the present workshop were as follows:<br>1. Forgotten needles<br>  1) Ideas of prevention based on a questionnaire survey (Egawa and Ishizaki)<br>  2) Effect of incident reporting system (Yamashita)<br>2. Cleaner method of needle insertion and Oshide (needle-supporting fingers)<br>  1) Merits and demerits of sterilized fingerstall and glove (Miyamoto)<br>  2) History of the clean needle development (Umeda)<br>  3) A novel clean acupuncture needle device (Imai and Ishizaki)<br>Although there was not enough time for discussion, we collected some useful ideas from the participants. A novel clean needle invented by Imai gave a strong impression to the audience. We should continue to discuss a diverse impact when such new devices and concepts become widespread in traditional acupuncture practices. We welcome more ideas and opinions from relevant facilities, clinics and fields in order to further improve safety of acupuncture.

Observation on Therapeutic Effect of Magnetic Acupuncture Treatment of Simple Obesity Complicated with Hyperlipidemia / 针灸推拿医学（英文版）

Sixty cases of the patients sick with simple obesity complicated with hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into the magnetic acupuncture group and control group, to observe the improving situation in the indexes of obesity and blood lipid. In the moment the therapeutic effect in reducing body weight, magnetic acupuncture is obviously better in improving cholesterol (TC) in indexes of blood lipid than single acupuncture (P＜0.05).
