RESUMEN

Enterotoxigenic Staphylococcus aureus can be isolated from various sources and are responsible for food poisoning in addition to many suppurative infections. In the present study, from 82 physically normal milk samples from cattle subclinical mastitis 33(40.24%) were isolated to S. aureus. Out of these, 22 (66.66%) S. aureus isolates had either one or more enterotoxin genes. Both seg and sei enterotoxin genes were carried by 19 (57.5%) S.aureus isolates while only three (9.09%) isolates were positive for seh gene. This study showed the evidence of presence of enterotoxin genes seg, seh, and sei in S. aureus isolates from subclinical mastitis. The presence of these enterotoxigenic S. aureus strains in milk indicates potential public health concern

Aim To observe the preventive protection of Yingxindan on acute myocardial ischemia induced by sublingual injection of pituitrin ( pit) in rats.Methods Sixty rats were randomly divided into saline group , model group, nifedipine 12.6 mg · kg -1 group, and Yingxindan 25.2, 12.6, 6.3 mg · kg -1 groups.The saline group and model group were given the same vol-ume of water.After administration for 7 d, an acute myocardial ischemia model was induced by sublingual intravenous injection of pit 1 U · kg -1 in the rats 1 h after last administration .The changes of the II electro-cardiogram(ECG) ST segment at different time points , as well as the positive rate of myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia were observed .Meanwhile , the levels of serum creatine kinase ( CK ) , creatine kinase isoenzyme ( CK-MB ) , glycogen phosphorylase isoenzyme BB ( GPBB ) , cardiac troponin I ( cTnI ) and cardiac troponin T ( cTnT ) were observed .Re-sults Yingxindan could suppress the changes of ST segment of electrocardiogram in rats with acute myocar-dial ischemia induced by pit and reduce the positive rate of myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia .The con-tents of myocardial injury markers CK , CK-MB, GPBB, cTnI and cTnT in serum significantly de-creased, and the corresponding relationship existed . The greater the dose of Yingxindan , the smaller the content of myocardial injuried markers in serum .Con-clusion Yingxindan has significant preventive protec-tion effect on acute myocardial ischemia by pit .

Aims: To investigate the presence of the staphylococcal enterotoxin genes seg, seh and sei among clinical and nasal isolates. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Biology and Biotechnology, An-Najah N. University, Palestine, in 2011. Methodology: A total 124 S. aureus isolates were collected, forty three were nasal and 81 were clinical isolates. PCR technique was used to detect enterotoxin genes seg, seh and sei, mecA gene and analysis of SCCmec types. Enterotoxigenic strains were also typed using coagulase typing kit. Results: Fifty two (41.9%) isolates were positive for one or more of these enterotoxin genes. The prevalence of toxin genes among S. aureus isolated from nasal swabs 25/43 (58.1%) was higher than those isolated from clinical samples 27/81 (33.3%). Combination of the toxin genes was noted only in MSSA isolate from both nasal swabs and clinical samples. Distribution of toxin genes in MSSA isolates was higher (49.5%) than those in MRSA isolates (21.2%). SCCmec typing showed that the MRSA enterotoxigenic strain were belonged to types II, III and IVa. MRSA strains were found to belong to coagulase serotypes II, III and VII, while MSSA strains were belonged to serotypes II-VII. In nasal samples, 16/25 (64.0%) of enterotoxigenic strains showed the genotype seg+/sei+, while in clinical samples 1/27 (3.7%), 1/27 (3.7%) and 3/27 (11.1%) of enterotoxigenic strains showed the genotypes seg+/seh+, seg+/sei+ and seg+/seh+/sei+, respectively. This study showed that the majority of the isolates 42/124 (33.9%) were seg+, while none of nasal strains harbored seh gene. Conclusion: The prevalence of seg, seh and sei genes in the S. aureus isolated from nasal swabs differed significantly from those obtained from clinical samples, as well as the prevalence of the same genes in MSSA differed significantly from those in MRSA. In addition, S. aureus isolates from clinical and nasal swabs could serve as a possible reservoir of newly described seg, seh and sei genes.

Por ser capaz de mostrar aspectos morfológicos e patológicos de ateroscleroses, o Ultrassom Intravascular (IVUS) se tornou uma das modalidades de imagens médicas mais confiáveis e empregadas em intervenções cardíacas. As características de sua imagem aumentam as chances de um bom diagnóstico, resultando em terapias mais precisas. O estudo de segmentação da fronteira média-adventícia, dentre muitas aplicações, é importante para o aprendizado das propriedades mecânicas e determinação de algumas medidas específicas (raio, diâmetro, etc.) em vasos e placas. Neste trabalho, uma associação de técnicas de processamento de imagens está sendo proposta para atingir alta acurácia na segmentação da borda média-adventícia. Para tanto, foi feita uma combinação das seguintes técnicas: Redução do Speckle por Difusão Anisotrópica (SRAD), Wavelet, Otsu e Morfologia Matemática. Primeiramente, é usado SRAD para atenuar os ruídos speckle. Posteriormente, é executada Transformada Wavelet para extração das características dos vasos e placas. Uma versão binarizada dessas características é criada na qual o limiar ótimo é definido por Otsu. Finalmente, é usada Morfologia Matemática para obtenção do formato da adventícia. O método proposto é avaliado ao segmentar 100 imagens de alta complexidade, obtendo uma média de Verdadeiro Positivo (TP(%)) = 92,83 ± 4,91, Falso Positivo (FP(%)) = 3,43 ± 3,47, Falso Negativo (FN(%)) = 7,17 ± 4,91, Máximo Falso Positivo (MaxFP(mm)) = 0,27 ± 0,22, Máximo Falso Negativo (MaxFN(mm)) = 0,31 ± 0,2. A eficácia do nosso método é demonstrada, comparando este resultado com outro trabalho recente na literatura.


By being able to show morphological and pathological aspects of atherosclerosis, the Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) be¬came one of the most reliable and employed medical imaging modality in cardiac interventions. Its image characteristics in¬crease the chances of a good diagnostic, resulting in a precise therapy. The study of media-adventitia borders segmentation in IVUS, among many applications, is important for learning about the mechanical properties and determining some specific measurements (radius, diameter, etc.) in vases and plaques. An approach is proposed to achieve high accuracy in media-adventitia borders segmentation, by making a combination of different image processing operations: Speckle Reducing Anisotropic Diffusion (SRAD), Wavelet, Otsu and Mathematical Morphology. Firstly, SRAD is applied to attenuate the speckle noise. Next, the vessel and plaque features are extracted by performing Wavelet Transform. Optimal thresholding is car¬ried out by Otsu method to create a binarized version of these features. Then, Mathematical Morphology operations are used to obtain an adventitia shape. The proposed approach is evaluated by segmenting 100 challenging images, obtaining an average of True Positive (TP(%)) = 92.83 ± 4.91, False Positive (FP(%)) = 3.43 ± 3.47, False Negative (FN(%)) = 7.17 ± 4.91, Max False Positive (MaxFP(mm)) = 0.27 ± 0.22, Max False Negative (MaxFN(mm)) = 0.31 ± 0.2. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated by comparing this result with another recent work in the literature.

RESUMEN

Objective To observe changes of plasma thrombinogen segment 1+2(FI+2)and D-dimer(D-D)in multiple trauma patients and exphlore their relations with traumatic disseminated intra-vascular coagulation(DIC). Methods A total of 66 multiple trauma patients were divided into minor injury group(ISS<16 points,21 patients)and severe multiple trauma group(ISS≥16 points,45 pa-tients).Then.severe multiple trauma group were divided into DIC group(12 patients)and non-DIC group(33 patients).Another 10 healthy pemons were served as control group.Venous blood was collect-ed once in the control group and that collected from other groups at days 1,3 and 7 after injury.The F1 +2 concentrarion was detetrained with ELISA.and the D-D concentration was measured by automated la-tex enhanced immunoassay. Results The F1+2 and D-D levels in the minor injury group and sever multiple trauma group were both higher than that of the control group.In the meantime.the F1+2 and D-D levels in severe injury group were remarkably higher than that in the minor injury group.The plasma F1 +2 and D-D levels were elevated continuously in traumatic DIC group and remarkably higher than that in the non.DIC group.in which the plasma F1+2 and D-D levels gradually declined.Plasma F1+2 and D-D levels had significantly positive correlations at days 1,3 and 7 after injury. Conclusions Hiigher levels of F1+2 and D.D at acute stage is not only relevant to the injury severity,but also closely to the occurrence of traumatic DIC after injury.Detection of plasma F1+2 and D-D levels may play an impor-taut role in early prediction of DIC.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the effect of homeobox genes CDX1 and CDX2 on the phenotype of esophageal adenocarcinoma cells.Methods Esophageal adenocarcinoma cell line SEG-1 was transfected with CDX1 or CDX2 cDNA.The morphology,growth rate,division index and tumorigenicity were analyzed.Results The expression of CDX1 or CDX2 leaded to occurring adeniform-like manifestation.The growth rate,division index and tumorigenicity were reduced,especially by CDX2.Conclusion CDX1 and CDX2 all could increase differentiation of esophageal adenocarcinoma cells and reduction of its malignancy.
