RESUMEN

Objective To analyze the causes for the biological monitoring abnormal results of the pressure steam sterilizer to eliminate non-standard operation and hidden risks during biological monitoring. Methods Totally 34 secondary or above medical institutions in Chongqing were selected randomly, and questionnaire survey was carried out over biological monitoring abnormal results and main influencing factors of the pressure steam sterilizer. Results Of the 126 abnormal results, there were 63 positive results (accounting for 50%) and the main influencing factors included expiration, aged seal ring,low-efficiency vacuum pump, nonstandard loading, bioindicator reproduction before sterilization, false positive result, polluted moist incubator and etc; There were 35 cases of results related to fast reader (accounting for 27.78%) and the main factors consisted of failure of reading light, improper input of bioindicator, dusts in the reading hole and etc; There were 18 cases of bioindicator discoloration before culture (accounting for 14.28%) and the main factor was reproduction occurred before the gemma was inactivated; There were l0 cases of nondiscoloring in case of positive control (accounting for 7.94%) and the main factors included non-crushed indicating mediostratum cultured in the incubator, insufficient shaking after crushing mediostratum and etc. Conclusion The main factors for abnormal biological monitoring of the sterilizer involve in equipment, personnel and material, and the quality control has to be executed from the three aspects.

RESUMEN

Objective: To Study on the application of low temperature plasma sterilizer for endoscopic disinfection and cost, period of validity. Methods: Used duodenum mirrors were collected in December 2012-December 2013 in our department, respectively by low temperature plasma sterilizer with conventional disinfection sterilizer. To compare two methods of sterilization effect and cost, the period of validity. Results: Low temperature plasma sterilizer every time sterilization costs RMB (78.21+7.57), significantly higher than the conventional sterilizer (44.82 5.26) yuan (t=7.71, P<0.05);Low temperature plasma sterilizer sterilization is 5 to 7 months, longer than conventional sterilizer 9-28 d (t=12.50, P<0.05). Conclusion: Low-temperature plasma sterilization method has strong sterilization, temperature, rapid and long shelf life and other advantages, worthy of promotion and application.

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo observe the discoloration of chemical indicator cards in different positions in pressure steam sterilization bags and stetilization effect.MethodsFrom January 2009 to January 2011,168 packages needing sterilization were divided into group A and group B randomiy with 84 packages in each.We put chemical indicator cards on different positions in the packages. Then discoloration of chemical indicator cards and the qualified rate of bacteriology detection were observed.ResultsThere were 9cases of uneven discoloration in group A,and the incidence rate was 10.71%,higher than group B.The unqualified rate of bacteriology detection in group A was 2.38%,higher than group B(1.19%),but the difference was not statistically significant.ConclusionsChemical indicator cards could reflect the effect of sterilization, but placing them in different positions can appear different results. The chemical indicator cards that placed between the two packing layer could provide powerful evidence for sterilization effects for clinicians, and avoid unnecessary economic waste in Sterilization and Supply Center, which is worthy of being widely used in Sterilization and Supply Center.

RESUMEN

The purposes of this study were firstly to identify the microbial species on gutta-percha (GP) cones exposed at clinics using polymerase chain reaction, and secondly to evaluate the short-term sterilization effect of three chemical disinfectants. It also evaluated the alteration of surface texture and physical properties of GP cones after 5-min soaking into three chemical disinfectants. 150 GP cones from two endodontic departments were randomly selected for microbial detection using PCR assay with universal primer. After inoculation on the sterilized GP cones with the same microorganism identified by PCR assay, they were soaked in three chemical disinfectants: 5% NaOCl, 2% Chlorhexidine, and ChloraPrep for 1, 5, 10, and 30 minutes. The sterilization effect was evaluated by turbidity and subculture. The change of surface textures using a scanning electron microscope and the tensile strength and elongation rate of the GP cones were measured using an Instron 5500 (Canton). Statistical analysis was performed. Four bacterial species were detected in 29 GP cones (19.4%), and all the species belonged to the genus Staphylococcus. All chemical disinfectants were effective in sterilization with just 1 minute soaking. On the SEM picture of NaOCl-soaked GP cone, a cluster of cuboidal crystals was seen on the cone surface. The tensile strength of NaOCl-soaked group was significantly higher than the other groups (p < 0.05). Also, all disinfectants significantly increased the elongation rate of GP cones compared to the fresh GP cone (p < 0.05). Present data demonstrate that three chemical disinfectants are useful for rapid sterilization of GP cone just before obturation.
