RESUMEN

@#In the Philippines, data on testicular rupture due to a firecracker-related accident is sparse, and to the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is only one published report in international literature on firework-related genitourinary injury. Most published data on testicular rupture are associated with blunt trauma, which are mostly sports-related. The objectives of this clinical case report were to describe a rare case of a firecracker-related injury to the groin, and to discuss the approach to its evaluation and management.A 13-year-old male presenting with scrotal avulsion following a blast injury from a firecracker to his groin is described. After confirmation of right testicular rupture by ultrasonography, the patient underwent scrotal exploration and right testicular repair. The patient had an uneventful recovery and he was discharged on the second post-operative day. This case report highlights the importance of ultrasonography and early surgical exploration for a successful testicular salvage.

RESUMEN

Immunologic factors including antisperm antibodies play a significant role in pathogenesis of 10-20% of unexplained infertility cases. and any event or circumstance that would breach the blood-testis barrier may result in the formation of antisperm antibodies. Using an immunobead test we studied the occurrence of circulating antisperm antibodies in twelve patients who had undergone surgical treatment for testicular rupture due to blunt scrotal trauma. On the follow-up ranging from 6 to 14 months after surgical treatment only one patient was found to have circulating antisperm antibodies but his semen remained normal in spite of the presence of circulating antisperm antibodies.

RESUMEN

The incidence of testicular rupture by blunt trauma has been considered rare. But if testicular rupture has developed, the diagnosis of which is difficult. In the 50 cases of scrotal trauma patients, we investigated in the frequency of testicular rupture and early exploration in comparison with delayed exploration. Then the incidence of testicular rupture was in 46.1% of the cases of exploration, and early exploration of for scrotal trauma has resulted in higher testicular salvage rate than delayed exploration.
