RESUMEN

Uterine intussusception is a rare condition in bitches. This study aimed to report an unusual case of prolapsed uterine intussusception in a female dog. A 2-year-old American Bully bitch was received with labor history of large fetus requiring manual traction. The animal presented mucosal prolapse through the vulva, unproductive contractions and abdominal discomfort. After partial correction of mucosal prolapse, the dog was referred to ovary-hysterectomy surgery to correct prolapsed mucosa. During the surgical procedure, surgeons observed that the uterine horns were invaginated into the uterine body, rotated, and the tissue was slightly devitalized and congested. As previously described, this condition occurred during the immediate postpartum period. Thus, we suggest that this period can be a facilitator for the establishment of uterine intussusception.(AU)

Objective To investigate the clinical application of liquid pressurization under obstruction of healthy-side uterine horn with the tip of double lumen balloon catheter combined with guidewire recanalization in treating unilateral obstruction of fallopian tube. Methods Hysterosalpingography was performed in infertility patients.A total of 50 patients with unilateral obstruction of fallopian tube were selected.Attempt was made to use catheter tip to obstruct the healthy-side uterine horn, then liquid pressurization was carried out to reopen fallopian tube, and the relationship between the success of recanalization and uterine morphology was analyzed;further guidewire recanalization was employed when liquid pressurization method failed, and the recanalization rate was calculated. Results In 33 among the 50 patients, the distance from the uterine horn to the cervical internal orifice was shorter than the catheter length that was inserted into the uterus, besides, the width of the uterine horn was smaller than the catheter diameter, thus the uterine horn was tightly occluded by the catheter tip.Recanalization of the fallopian tube was obtained in 19 patients, and recanalization of the fallopian tube failed in 14 patients because the obstruction was very severe. In 17 among the 50 patients, the distance from the uterine horn to the cervical internal orifice was longer than the catheter length that was inserted into the uterus, besides, the width of the uterine horn was larger than the catheter diameter, thus the uterine horn could not be tightly occluded by the catheter tip, resulting failure of recanalization of fallopian tube.Further guidewire recanalization had to be carried out for the 33 patients whose recanalization of fallopian tube with liquid pressurization method failed, and recanalization of fallopian tube was achieved in 22 patients. Conclusion Liquid pressurization under obstruction of healthy-side uterine horn with the tip of double lumen balloon catheter can reopen the obstructed fallopian tube in some patients, and the success of recanalization is closely related to the uterine morphology.Additional use of guidewire recanalization technique can significantly improve the recanalization rate for unilateral fallopian tube obstruction.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the current situation of diagnosis and treatment of rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy through 4-cases report. Methods We made a clinical study of 4 cases of rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy admitted to our hospital between 1995 and 2005. Results Three patients had been undergone artificial abortion before they were admitted to our hospital. All the patients were asymptomatic. Ultrasonography was made in 3 cases. Two cases were diagnosed as rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy. Three patients were cured with surgery. Conclusions Rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy is rare and with atypical clinical manifestation in the first trimester. Although diagnosis before surgery is difficult, ultrasonography and MRI make a great role. Surgery is the most important therapeutic method.

RESUMEN

Rudimentary uterus with ipsilateral renal agenesis is a very rare Mullerian duct malformation. The most common clinical presentation is pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea shortly after menarche, in associated with the finding of a vaginal or pelvic mass. An appropriate and prompt diagnosis and treatment will prevent unnecessary procedures and offer relief of symptoms. We report one case of rudimentary uterine horn with ipsilateral renal agenesis with a brief review of concerned literatures.

RESUMEN

The uterus with rudimentary horn occurs as a result of a lack of development during fetal life of the middle and lower part of one of the M llerian ducts, in which there is a failure of fusion of the two ducts. Pregnancy in the rudimentary uterine horn is very rare, its incidence is reported nearly as 1 case per 100,000 normal pregnancy. We experience a case of ruptured rudimentary uterine horn twin pregnancy at 29-gestational week and report the case with brief review of literatures.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to identify human papilloma virus(HPV) infection in cervical lesions by using polymerase chain reaction in situ hybridization(PCR-ISH) and to compare the results of PCR-ISH with conventional in situ hybridization(ISH) METHODS: Forty-seven randomly chosen neutral-buffered formalhyde-fixed cervical biopsies in which cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and invasive cervical cancer had been diagnosed were tested for HPV DNA by PCR-ISH and ISH. The method of PCR-ISH includes deparaffinization of specimens, PCR amplification of DNA, in situ hybridization and detection of amplified products. RESULTS: The positivity rate of ISH was 36% for all biopsies and 26%, 40% for CIN and invasive cancer respectively. By using PCR-ISH the positivity was 80%, 84% respectively. All PCR-ISH positive cases were ISH positive and no ISH positive was PCR-ISH negative. CONCLUSION: In our study HPV DNA, undetectable by standard in situ hybridization, was detectable by PCR in situ hybridization. Our study shows that PCR in situ hybridization is highly sensitive method for detection of HPV in cervical neoplastic specimens with morphological evidence.

RESUMEN

The unicornuate uterus is a rare type of the anomalous uteri, which is caused by failure of development of one of the mullerian ducts. This condition is usually associated with various degrees of rudimentary uterine horn. The unicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn is susceptible to many gynecologic and obstetric complications. Urinary tract anomalies, pelvic endometriosis, primary infertility are claimed to be common complaints in women with unicornuate uterus. We have experienced a case of rudimentary uterine horn adenomyosis associated with agenesis of ipsilateral kidney, pelvic endometriosis in a 13 years old girl. So we report this case with a brief review of literatures.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of inhibition of postsurgical adhesion formation in the rat model by meclofenamate, tolmetin, TC-7, Hyskon, and heparin. Laparotomies were performed on grossly healthy, mature nonpregnant female rats, and proximal 1 cm of each uterine horn was traumatized with unipolar electrocautery. Each rat was randomly assigned to one of six different groups(control, meclofenamate, tolmetin, heparin, TC-7, and Hyskon group), and different solutions or an adhesion barrier were placed into traumatized uterine horn before closure. One week later adhesion formation was scored according to percent involvement of each traumatized uterine horn(0 to 4), and adhesion density(0 to 2), and compared using one-way analysis of variance and Fishers exact test. Compared with the control group, postsurgical adhesion formation was significantly decreased in the TC-7 group(average adhesion score, 1.72), the meclofenamate group(2.19), the Hyskon group(2.53), and the tolmetin group(2.93). The TC-7 group was also significantly decreased in adhesion formation compared with the Hyskon, tolmetin, heparin groups, and meclofenamate group was significantly decreased in adhesion formation compared with tolmetin and heparin groups. There were no significant differences between groups in adhesion density. So we suggest that meclofenamate is a cost-effective agent in inhibition of postsurgical adhesion formation.
