RESUMEN

The malariometric survey was carried out twice, firstly after the end of transmission season and secondly four months later in order to evaluate different malariometric indices and 1,400 children of school age [5-9 years old] were examined from six governorates in the Delta Region [Qualubiya, Sharkiya, Gharbiya, Beheira, and Ismailiya] and Faiyum Governorate. All children were examined by the different malariometric i. e. splenic enlargement [spleen rate], parasitological examination [parasite rate using the thick drip method and serological examination, using the indirect fluorescent antibody test [IFAT]. From the result obtained from seven governorates it would be realized that malaria in Abheet [Faiyum Governorate] was hypoendemic, spleen rate [10%] while in Al-Alag [Qualubiya Governorate] was mesoendemic [17%] in January examition. Resurveying of the same group of children in April, indicated that all the spleens became palpable except one which regressed from II to I in Abheet village, while in Al-Alag village all the spleens became unpalpable. The parasite rate in the first survey in Faiyum Governorate was 12% [7% [3% P. falciparum and 4% P. vivax]]. Serological results in January examination was 59%, in April 46% in Abheet village while in Al-Alag village was 48% in January, and 32% in the second survey
