RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To establish a method to determine total bromine in urine.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Diluted urine samples were directly introduced into ICP-MS then quantized by standard curve.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Total bromine in urine was linear within 1.0~50 mg/L with r > 0.999, When spiked at a concentration of 0.020 mg/L, 0.050 mg/L, 0.150 mg/L, the recovery was 95%~98%, intra-assay precision was 1.4% 3.2%, inter-assay precision was 3.4% to 5.0%. Urine could store in -20 °C refrigerator 3 months without any bromine loss.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Using ICP-MS to determine the urinary total bromine, the method is fast, accurate, wide linear range of features, could meet with the requirement of Part 5 of occupational health standards guide: Method determination of chemical substances in biological materials (GBZ/T 210.5-2008), a strong competitive advantage in a wide range of survey, suitable for promotion.</p>

RESUMEN

Chemical composition of the aerosols is an important aspect of aerosol monitoring. The adverse effects on human heath due to different elements in aerosols depend on their concentrations. A comparative study of aerosol concentration and composition from an industrial town Mandi-Gobindgarh and a nearby (25 km away) non-industrial and comparatively less polluted town Morinda, in state Punjab (India) was carried out. Aerosol samples were analyzed by Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) technique at the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneshwar. Elemental concentrations were found to be much higher in Mandi-Gobindgarh as compared to Morinda. However, the large deviations from the mean concentrations, particularly in Mandi-Gobindgarh is suggestive of highly varying day to day industrial activity and changing weather conditions. Elements such as S, Br and Pb were found higher in the PM2.5 (particulate matter with = 2.5 microm aerodynamic diameter), which are related to burning of coal and oil in furnaces in Mandi-Gobindgarh. The elements related to natural dust such as K, Ca, Ti, Mn, and Fe are mainly distributed in PMcf (particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter between 2.5 and 10 microm) fraction in both the towns. High concentrations of Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe and Zn in the PMcf fraction from Mandi-Gobindgarh are likely due to the industrial activity of Steel rolling mills.

RESUMEN

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To establish a spectrophotometric determination method of bromine in the air of workplace.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Bromine in the air of workplace was absorbed by methyl orange solution, then determined by spectrophotometry.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The range of the determination was 0.2 to 2.8 microg/ml, the linear equation was Y=0.0427X-0.0092, r=0.9996. The detection limit was 0.2 microg/ml. The minimum detectable concentration was 0.27 mg/m(3) for 7.5 L air sample. The relative standard deviations covered the range of 1.1% approximately 3.7%. The recovery rate was in the range of 93.6% to 97.2%. The sampling efficiency ranged from 93.5% to 100.0%.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The method is available for the determination of bromine in the air of workplace.</p>

<p><b>AIM</b>To compare the post-column derivatization technique (IAC-PCD-HPLC) for the determination of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 and the rapid procedure with fluorometric analysis (SFB) for the determination of total aflatoxins.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The method of post-column derivatization with bromine by HPLC consisted of extraction of the sample with MeOH-H2O (70:30) followed by clean-up of the extracts with immunoaffinity columns and finally, HPLC determination with fluorescence detection. Aflatoxins B1 and G1 were determined as their bromine derivatives, produced in an on-line post-column derivatization system. In SFB method, samples were ground and extracted with methanol-water (70:30). A portion of the extract was cleaned up by passage through a immunoaffinity column, One mL of purified extract was derivatized with a bromine reagent, and fluorescence of the solution was immediately quantified with a calibrated fluorometer containing a broad wavelength pulsed xenon light source.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>In IAC-HPLC method, the overall average recoveries for three different medicinal herbs spiked at levels of 1.3 and 2.6 ng x g(-1) of total aflatoxins ranged from 93% to 97%. The detection limit was 0. 06 microg x kg(-1) for both G2 and B2 and 0.20 microg x kg(-1) for both G1 and B1, based on a signal/noise 3:1 and the precision (within-laboratory relative standard deviation) ranged from 0.8% to 1.4%. Each of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 in 39 kind medicinal materials were determined by IAC-PCD-HPLC, and the total aflatoxins were determined by SFB.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The SFB method is not the suitable method for the determination of total aflatoxins in medicinal herbs and plant extracts.</p>

The presented study concern some reactions on the 5-position of uridine, such as reaction of 2',3'-O-isopropylidene uridine with 5-bromofuran-2-carbaldehyde. The reactions of uridine with thioaldehydes are a cycloaddition reactions. Furthermore, reaction of uridine with thiobenzoic acid is an addition reaction on the 5, 6 double bond of the heterobase. RESUMEN

Un método de extracción-espectrometría, altamente sensible y selectivo que utiliza 4-(5-Br-2-piridilazo)-1-3-diaminobenceno (5-BR-PADAB) es aplicado a la determinación de cobre en suero. La exactitud y reproductibilidad son comparables a los obtenidos por espectrometría de absorción atómica. La absortividad molar del complejo es 47.500 l ml-1 cm-1. La Ley de Beer se cumple en el rango de 0,03-1,58 ppm de cobre. La interferencia de Fe (III) es resuelta por enmascaramiento con fluoruro. Se analizan también algunos aspectos de la destrucción de materia orgánica

RESUMEN

En este trabajo se presenta el estudio químico radiofarmacológico y el uso en seres humanos realizado con el "mebrofeini-Tc-99m". La finalidad del trabajo fue determinar el uso potencial de este radiofármaco en seres humanos portadores de distintas entidades clínico patológicas. Para esto, se sintetizó el producto mejorando el rendimiento de reacción, mediante una modificación en la segunda etapa del camino de síntesis, lo que condujo a elevarlo del 70 al 90%. Se determinó la cinética plasmática mediante la circulación extracorpórea realizada en ratas wistar, mientras que la hepática y renal se llevó a cabo en ratones endocriados. Todos los resultados fueron analizados mediante un procesador, obteniéndose las vidas medias plasmáticas y los máximos tiempos de captación

RESUMEN

Foram revistos os casos de acne medicamentosa atendidos em um período de 17 anos, sendo encontrados 66/22890 novas consultas (2,9:1.000 novas consultas). O quadro predomina em mulheres, na proporçäo 3,7 para cada homen. As drogas desencadeantes foram principalmente a vitamina B12 (29 casos - 43,9%) e os corticóides(17 - 25,7%); seguem-se iodo, bromo, hidrazida e lítio. Do ponto de vista clínico foram avaliados aspectos relacionados com duraçäo da erupçäo, presença de prurido, morfologia e distribuiçäo das lesöes, relaçäo com acne vulgar. Do ponto de vista histopatológico, foi discutida a possível sede de lesäo inicial, no folículo piloso

RESUMEN

The rate of oxidation of mandelic acid by potassium bromate in acetic acid-water medium was followed iodometrically under pseudo first orderconditions. The stoichiometry of the reaction was found to be 1:1; while the dependence of the rate of the reaction on the mandelic acid concentration is not a simple one. The effect of acidity on the rate of oxidation has been investigated in the light of the behaviour of the sulphuric acid in acetic acid-water medium. The effect of temperature on the reaction rate have been studied within the range 318-333 K for different acidities and solvent compositions. The thermodynamic properties of the activated complex, delta G[*], delta H[*] and delta S were computed and an extrathermodynamic analysis of the rate of the reaction was investigated according to the isokinetic relationship. A suitable reaction mechanisim was proposed

RESUMEN

Poisoning due to potassium bromate, cold wave neutralizer for permanent waving solution in hair styling, is rarely encountered and only few cases are as a cause of acute renal failure reported in medical literature. Recently, we saw a 18 year-old-female patient, hair stylist, who was admitted to Severance Hospital due to acute renal failure after accidental ingestion of potassium bromate. This is the first known case of acute renal failure due to potassium bromate poisoning in Korea.
