RESUMEN

The present study was carried cut to study the possible cardiovascular interaction between some NSAIDs [diclofenac sodium] and some antihypertensive drugs [captopril] and the possible mechanism[s] by which these interactions occur. This study was carried out in vivo on renal hypertensive rats and in vitro on perfused heart isolated from rats. It was concluded that NSAIDs [diclofenac sodium] attenuate the antihypertensive effect of captopril in renal hypertensive anesthetized rats via the inhibition of endogenous prostagl and ins synthesis, especially that with vasodilator activity which in turn produces sodium ion retention, potentiates sympathetic activity and potentiates the action of endogenous angiotensin II
