RESUMEN

Presented here is a report of 3 children, out of 66 total pediatric Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) patients (4.5%) with bone involvement over a 3 and a half year period. Two patients presented with osseous lesions at the time of relapse and one had concurrent evidence of non-osseous disease. The clinical presentation, radiographic findings, histology, treatment and outcome of these patients are discussed. Boys and girls are nearly equally affected, local bone pain is the commonest symptom and B-symptoms are common. Vertebrae and pelvis are most frequently involved, commonly with an osteolytic picture. Nodular sclerosis is the predominant histological subtype. Most children received combined modality treatment and the overall response and survival are good.

RESUMEN

This case describes a contiguous mediastinal and retroperitoneal mature teratoma in a congenital diaphragmatic defect, a combination that is hitherto unreported in literature. It substantiates embryological chronology of events during the cephalad migration of the primordial germ cells through the developing diaphragm, prior to its closure.

RESUMEN

Primary adrenal sarcomatoid carcinoma is rare malignant tumor with the characteristics of carcinoma and sarcoma. To date, only one case of primary sarcomatoid carcinoma in the adrenal gland was reported. We present here computed tomography appearance and pathological features of the case with primary adrenal sarcomatoid carcinoma confirmed by pathology. In addition, a brief review of the relevant literature is presented.

RESUMEN

Hepatocellular carcinoma has a decisive influence on the prognosis of cirrhotic patients, and the use of imaging modalities is essential for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Ultrasound plays a major role among them, because it provides real-time and non-invasive observation by a simple and easy technique. In addition, ultrasound-guided needle puncture methods are frequently required for the diagnosis and/or treatment process of hepatocellular carcinoma. The development of digital technology has led to the detectability of blood flow by color Doppler ultrasound, and the sensitivity for tumor vascularity has shown remarkable improvement with the introduction of microbubble contrast agents. Moreover, near real-time three-dimensional ultrasound images are now available. These advancements in the ultrasound field have led to rapid progress in hepatocellular carcinoma management, and continuing advances are expected. This article reviews the current application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound for hepatocellular carcinoma in clinical practice.
