Résumé
The present work was conducted to evaluate the role of cytokines [IL-6 and TNF-alpha] in females with unexplained infertility [UEI]. The subjects were classified into two groups: A control group included 15 apparently healthy fertile females with offsprings and UEI group included 15 females. Blood and cervical mucus [CM] samples were taken at the same time at mid cycle. Sera and diluted CM samples were kept frozen at -20C till used in the assay for IL-6 and TNF-alpha using ELISA kit. The results revealed a highly significant increase in both serum and CM IL-6 as well as TNF-alpha in UEI group when compared with the control group. A positive significant correlation was found between serum and CM 11-6 levels in UEI group. No significant correlation was detected between serum and CM TNF-alpha levels in UEI group

To study cytokines, insulin and glucagon in different varieties of diabetes mellitus, 50 cases were selected and divided into ten normal volunteers [healthy and normoglycemic] as control subjects, 20 patients with NIDDM [glucosuria, fasting and postprandial hyperglycemia] and 20 patients with IDDM [severe hyperglycemia]. Fasting blood samples were collected from all cases and the serum were separated and frozen at -20C until measuring cytokines [TNF-alpha, IL-1B and IL-6], C-reactive protein [CRP], insulin and glucagon. The results are presented and discussed

The aim of this study was to investigate the levels of alpha-2-macroglobulin [alpha-2-M] and alpha-I-antitrypsin [alpha I AT] in non malignant and malignant liver diseases to be used as a biochemical marker of malignant transformation as well as to detect the degree of malignancy. Alpha-2-macroglobulin and alpha-I- antitrypsin levels were measured in serum by single radial immunodiffusion plates. The study showed a significant increase in alpha-I AT in non malignant liver diseases group, primary untreated liver cancer group and advanced liver cancer group when compared with that of the control group. Alpha-2 M showed a high significant increase only in advanced liver carcinoma with insignificant changes in other groups
