Résumé

Sulfadoxine 1.5 Gm and Pyrimethamine 75 mg were administered to 30 males with P. falciparum infection who were resistant to the standard does of Chloroquine (Total 1.5 gm base). 25 of 30 (83.4 per cent) cases were sensitive to the drug combination while 5 of 30(16.6 per cent) were resistant to it; three at R1 level and two at R II level. The clinical trial had been done in a malaria free area, Meiktila where reinfection could virtually be excluded. Sufficient drug absorption could be ensured by clinical observation only. The evidence presented here indicates that Sulfadoxine -Pyrimethamine resistant P. falciparum infection probably exists in Burma.
