OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect of plasma eardrum perforation homochronous with palatoplasty on hearing and tympanic cavity pressure in cleft palate children with secretory otitis media.@*METHOD@#Fifty-six cases of cleft palate children with secretory otitis media were randomly divided into observation group and control group. For the control group, palatoplasty was carried out alone. For the observation group, homochronous with palatoplasty, plasma eardrum perforation was performed with the diameter of the aperture 2-3 mm, which was decided by observing viscosity of tympanum fluid under microscope or otoscope.@*RESULT@#Compared with the simple cleft palate repairing palatoplasty, the perforation in the observation group could keep for 6-8 weeks after the surgery. Followed up 6 months later, the children in observation group improved better in terms of hearing restoration and tympanometry.@*CONCLUSION@#By means of plasma eardrum perforation homochronous with palatoplasty, the children of cleft palate with secretory otitis media could improve hearing and tympanometry in a short period, recovering the function of middle ear.

Objective: To compare anti-gastric ulcer action of sea buckthorn pulp oil(SBPO) with sea buckthorn seed oil(SBSO) and to explore its mechanism. Methods : The anti-gastric ulcer actions of SBPO and SBSO were observed and compared on the gastric ulcer induced by water immersion stress, reserpine, pylorus ligation and acetic acid. The effects on gastric secretion in rats were studied with pylorus ligation. The effects on gastric emptying were observed by methyl orange remaining rate in stomach of mouse. The analgesic effect was tested by the hot-plate method and writhing method. Results : SBPO and SBSO markedly inhibited gastric ulcer induced by water immersion stress, reserpine and pylorus ligation and promoted the healing of the gastric ulcer induced by acetic acid. SBPO and SBSO significantly inhibited the secretion of gastric acid and pepsin and promoted the secretion of gastric mucous. SBPO and SBSO delayed gastric emptying in normal mouse. SBPO and SBSO significantly decreased the number of twisting body in mice. Conclusion : Both SBPO and SBSO could have anti-gastric ulcer effect with similar potency. The mechanism of anti-gastric ulcer might be their effect of inhibition of the secrection of gastric juice, promotion of the secrection of gastric mucous, inhibition of activity of gastric smooth muscle and analgetic effect.

It was found that there were 31?s 13 ganglia or 1983 ?s 331 neurons ( n = 6) in canine right atrial ganglionated plexus (RAGP). Nicotine (100 ?g) was administered to the plexus in 30 anesthetized open-chest dogs. Either positive or negative inotropic and chronotropic responses were elicited. Control injections of 0. 1 m1 NS into RAGP and injections of nicotine (100 ?g and 200?g) did not elicite any cardiac responses. Following acute decentralzation of hearts, nicotine (100 ?g ) was againadministered to RAGP. Some positive and negative responses were still elicited, but frequency of the responses was reduced. It is concluded that nicotine can directly activate efferent sympathetic and parasympathetic neurons of RAGP. and indirectly activate them by stimulation of afferent neurons, these nicotine sensitive cardiac neurons can modulate cardiac function in ifferent tendencies.

The decoction of Limonium bicolor (Bge.) O. Ktze (LBK) (15g/kg, corresponding to crude drugs) and the alcoholic extractive fluid of LBK (15g/kg. corresponding to crude drugs) were given orally to two groups of rats two times dailyrespectively. After four days, bleeding time of rats was shortened significantly with no distinet effect on coagulation time. The alcoholic extractive fluid (20g/kg, corresponding to crude drugs) was given orally to rats two times dally. After four days, experimental arterial thrombosis was promoted significantly. Obviously, arterial thrombosis is mainly related to platelet adhesion and aggregation, suggesting that the mechanism of the hemostatic effect of LBK may be related to its promotion of platelet adhesion and aggregation. When the decoction of LBK was given orally to mice, LD_(50) was 58.37 ? 10.77g/kg(p = 0.95).
