Objective To improve the data storage performance of Oracle database and simplify data storage management in No.1 Military Medical Project.Methods Using the automatic storage management provided by Oracle 10g,Oracle database in No.1 Military Medical Project was upgraded to Oracle 10g,and then the upgraded Oracle database was migrated to Oracle automatic storage management system.At last,all kinds of tests were made to the Oracle automatic storage management system.Results Oracle automatic storage management system greatly simplified data storage management in such aspects as automatic disk striping,automatic datafile mirroring,automatic disk loads rebalancing,etc.Conclusion This method is simple and feasible with low cost.

Objective To backup data stored in Oracle database in No.1 Military Medical Project.Methods Oracle encryption features,such as encrypting table columns,encrypting Rman backupset,encrytpting datapump export data were utilized,to encrypt sensitive data stored in HIS of No.1 Military Medical Project.Results The encryption features effectively protected Oracle online data and backup data.Conclusion These methods are secure and feasible in practice.Optimum method can be selected to encrypt data in database according system security requirements.

Objective To upgrade Oracle database to Oracle 10g Release 2 in No.1 Military Medical Project. Methods Technologies such as database upgrade assistance, manual script upgrade, exp/imp(expdp/impdp)of DBUA, transportable tablespace, materialized view and table copy were used to upgrade Oracle database respectively. Results It showed that all of these methods could upgrade Oracle database. Conclusion Although all of these methods can upgrade Oracle database, there are differences in their procedures and efficencies, so suitable methods should be chosen according to practical situation.

Objective To discuss the influence of Open resetlogs on Oracle database recovery. Methods Database backup was used to recover database before resetlogs. Before Oracle 9i, Oracle database was recovered through two steps; after Oracle10g, Oracle archived redo log by new format. Results Both methods could recover Oracle database by using backups before resetlogs. Conclusion Before Oracle9i, the recovery steps are complex, so it is suggested a consistent database backup should be made after resetlogs. By using the new archived redo log format after Oracle10g, it is easy to recover database through resetlogs.
