A origem da lombalgia durante a gravidez é multifatorial e sua manifestação nem sempre acontece no período gestacional, por isso ela deve ser analisada sob vários prismas. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a existência de uma relação entre prevalência e fatores de risco com a dor lombar na gravidez. Participaram da pesquisa 202 gestantes que faziam pré-natal em unidades de saúde pública e em consultórios médicos particulares, as quais responderam um questionário formulado pelas pesquisadoras. A prevalência de gestantes com algias na coluna lombar na população estudada foi de 140 (69,3 por cento). Alguns fatores de risco não interferiram na lombalgia gestacional, porém 64 (31,7 por cento) voluntárias relataram dor lombar prévia e os sintomas acentuaram nas primeiras semanas gestacionais. Apesar do alto índice de acometimento deste problema em gestantes, as causas são ainda controversas e indefinidas.
The origin of the low back pain during the pregnancy is multifactorial and its onset does not happens in the pregnancy period, for that it should be analyzed under several prisms. The objective of this study was to verify the existence of a relationship between the prevalence and the risk factors with the lumbar pain in the pregnancy period. Participated 202 pregnant women followed in public ambulatories and in private medical clinics, which answered a questionnaire. The prevalence of low back pain in this population was 69,3 percent. Some risk factors did not interfere in the low back pain during the pregnancy, however 31,7 percent of the volunteers related previous low back pain and increase of the symptoms in the first weeks of the pregnancy. In spite of the high index of this problem in pregnant women, the causes are still controversial and indefinite.
