Résumé

Background: Clomiphene citrate is one of the effective drugs for infertilitytreatment due to oligo-ovulation or anovulation. Intrauterine insemination [IUI] isone of more adherent methods for treatment of infertile cases which is followed bycontrolled ovarian hyperstimulation [COH]

Objective: the aim of this study was to evaluate Clomiphene citrate versus letrozolewith gonadotropins in IUI cycles

Materials and Methods: In this prospective randomized trial, 180 infertile patientswho were referred to Milad Hospital were selected. The first group received 5mg/day letrozole on day 3-7 of menstrual cycle. The second group received 100mg/day Clomiphene in the same way as letrozole. In both groups, humanmenopausal gonadotropin was administered every day starting on day between 6-8of cycle. Ovulation was triggered with urinary Human Chorionic Gonadotropin[5000 IU] when have two follicles of >/=16 mm. IUI was performed 36 hr later

Results: The number of matured follicles, cycle cancellation, and abortion were thesame in both groups. Endometrial thickness was higher at the time of humanmenopausal gonadotropin administration in letrozole group. Chemical and clinicalpregnancy rates were much higher in letrozole group. Ovarian hyperstimulation wassignificantly higher in clomiphene group

Conclusion: Letrozole appears to be a good alternative to clomiphene citrate withfewer side effects

Résumé

Nowadays, various antibiotics and antiseptics are used as locally delivered adjuncts to scaling and root planing [SRP] in the treatment of periodontitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of xanthan-based CHLO-SITE gel [xan-CHX] as a local adjunctive therapy to SRP in the treatment of moderate-to-severe periodontitis. In this controlled clinical trial, 6 patients with moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis were selected. Each subject had at least three pockets 4-7 mm deep. Twenty-eight randomly selected pockets were assigned to the control group and 44 pockets were assigned to the test group. Scaling and root planing [SRP] procedures were carried out in all the pockets. In the test group, in addition to SRP, xan-CHL gel was injected into the pockets. Clinical indices [PPD, CAL, BOP, PI] before and three months after treatment were measured and evaluated by paired t-test, chi-squared and Kruskal- Wallis tests using SPSS software. At baseline, there were no significant differences between the control and experimental sites in relation to the indices measured. After 3 mouths, means of PPD and BOP in the experimental sites were significantly lower compared to control sites [p value

Résumé

Lifestyle affects human health and thus, many health problems are related to people's lifestyles. It is also considered as a modifiable factor in Hypertension. The aim of this study was to determine risk factors of hypertension which are related to lifestyle, in 24-64 year old people in Kosar region of Qazvin city. This was a case - control study, consisting of 450 people who were selected through systematic sampling. The data collection instruments were lifestyle questionnaire and data registration paper that their validity and reliability were determined by content validity and test-retest, respectively. People with blood pressure > 140/90 mmHg were regarded as cases while the rest were regarded as controls. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 11.5 using descriptive and analytical statistics. The cases and controls had statistically significant difference in term of physical activity [p<0.01], smoking [p<0.001] and BMI [p<0.001]. Results showed that physical activity, smoking and obesity affect the incidence of hypertension in this region. These results necessitate interventions to change lifestyle of inhabitants of this region
