The authors report their experience about two cases of emphysematous pyelonephritis with review of literature. It is a serious affection the prognosis of whom was modified by new diagnostic tools. Symptomatology is polymorphous. The peculiar histologic aspects and the different etiologic hypothesis are discussed. The best management protocole is based on intensive medical care and surgery. Thereafter, the mortality rate is reduced to minimum
Résumé
The pelvic ectopic kidney is a relatively rare congenital anomaly. It is situated below the horizontal level of iliac crest. Fifty cases, gathered in twelve years, are reported here: 47 unilateral PEK, 2 bilateral REK, 1 solitary REK. Two main clinical patterns are retained: the healthy ectopic kidney [18 cases]: clinical complaints are borrowed from adjacent organs; the diseased ectopic kidney [32 cases]. Urinary symptoms reveal the anomaly. The diagnosis is based on the IVP data. Ectopic kidney should be treated as it was in its normal position
