Objective:To compare the clinical effects of two enteral nutritional emulsions, TP-HE and TPF, in elderly patients with severe pneumonia. Methods:This was a randomized study with contemporaneous controls.A total of 56 elderly patients over 65 years old who met the diagnostic criteria for severe pneumonia and were receiving insulin were enrolled. They were randomly divided into the observation group(n=28, enteral TPF-HE at a uniform rate through a nasogastric tube)and the control group(n=28 cases, enteral TPF at a uniform rate through a nasogastric tube). The total daily energy supply was calculates based on the ideal weights of patients.Prealbumin(PA), serum albumin(ALB), body mass index(BMI)and hemoglobin(Hb)were continuously measured at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 days after treatment. The effects of the enteral nutritional emulsions in elderly patients with severe pneumonia were analyzed by using repeated measures analysis of variance in a general linear model. Results:There was no significant difference in PA(244.5±55.1)mg/L vs.(237.8±40.4)mg/L, ALB(37.6±5.6)mg/L vs.(38.3±5.5)mg/L, BMI(21.9±0.2)kg/m 2vs.(22.4±0.2)kg/m 2)or Hb(104.4±26.8)mg/L vs.(103.6±25.6)mg/L between the TP-HE group and the TPF group before admission( P>0.05). The energy received from the enteral nutritional emulsions was not significantly different between the TP-HE group and the TPF group(79.8±4.8)kcal/d vs.(79.3±6.6)kcal/d( P>0.05). PA and serum ALB levels had significant differences between the TP-HE group and the TPF group at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 days after treatment( P<0.01 or 0.05). Increases in PA and serum ALB levels varied at certain time points between the TP-HE group and the TPF group.Hb levels had no significant difference at 1 and 2 days( P>0.05), but were significantly different at other time points between the two groups( P<0.01). There was no significant difference in BMI between the two groups( F=1.709, P>0.05). Conclusions:Both of the enteral nutrition emulsions can improve PA, ALB and Hb levels, with TP-HE offering more significant effects on PA, ALB and Hb levels. There is no difference in BMI at any time point whether patients receive TP-HE or TPF.

OBJECTlVE To study the effect of ganoderma poIysaccharide( GLP)on zebrafish ( Danio rerio)survivaI,deveIopment and senescence. METHODS A p53-knockout zebrafish modeI was estabIished by injecting of morphoIino phosphorodiamidate(mO)into normaI zebrafish eggs in the singIe ceII deveIopment stage. Different concentrations of GLP 1,2 and 3 g·L-1 were used to treat both wiId type and p53-knockout zebrafish embryos 8 h post fertiIization(8 hpf)under 28℃ for 3 d. The survivaI and maIformation rates were caIcuIated after 72 hpf,and the effect of GLP on ceII senescence was evaI-uated by senescence associated β-gaIactosidase(SA-β-gaI)staining both in wiId type and p53-knockout zebrafish embryos. In addition, the differentiaI gene expression of cancer inhibitor gene(p53),teIomer-ase reverse transcriptase( TERT),murine doubIe minute2( mdm2)and p21 was examined by RT-PCR both in wiId type and p53-knockout zebrafish embryos after treatment with different concentrations of GLP. RESULTS GLP 1 and 2 g·L-1 had no effect on deveIopment of wiId type zebrafish embryos, but after GLP 3 g·L-1 treatment, most of zebrafish embryos dispIayed maIformation and the survivaI rate was onIy 48.6%. GLP 1,2 and 3 g·L-1 had no effect on survivaI and deveIopment of p53-knockout zebrafish embryos. After GLP 2 g·L-1 treatment for 3 d,the SA-β-gaI staining positive rate of wiId type zebrafish embryos was reduced compared with controI group(P﹤0.01),whiIe there was no significant change in p53-knockout zebrafish embryos. The resuIts of RT-PCR showed that GLP 2 g·L-1 treatment depressed p21 and p53 gene expression(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01),and had no effect on mdm2 and TERTgene expres-sion of wiId type zebrafish embryos. For p53-knockout zebrafish embryos, the TERT,mdm2,p21 and p53 gene expression dispIayed no significant difference after GLP 2 g·L-1 treatment. CONCLUSlON GLP 2 g·L-1 may improve senescence of wiId type zebrafish embryo ceIIs. GLP ≥3 g·L-1 may Iead to death and abnormaI deveIopment of wiId type zebrafish embryos. The improvement of GLP on senescence of wiId type zebrafish embryo ceIIs might be mediated by its down-reguIation of p21 and p53 gene expression.

Objective To study the effect of labeling esophageal carcinoma with sliver clips on two sides by esophagoscopy in mapping the target for conformal radiotherapy (CRT). Methods Eighty patients with esophageal carcinoma (28 patients in early stage, 52 patients in late stage), who were eligible for CRT, were collected and the tumor volume was detected by three methods: CT (A),CT combined with X-ray (B) and CT combined with sliver clip labeling by esophagoscopy (C). The differences of the tumor length and position in head-foot site (Y-axsis) among three methods were compared. Results The comparison of average length of tumor in early stage patients showed significant difference among three methods in all types of tumor (F= 4.07 ~ 7.43, P<0.05 ) except papillary type (F= 1. 71, P>0. 05). There was difference (ranged from 0. 5 cm to 2. 0 cm) in detection of position in head-foot site between A and B methods and C method. Significant difference was found in determining the displacement on head-foot site among three methods (F = 34. 36 ~193.50,P <0.01). The comparison of average length of tumor in middle or terminal stage patients showed significant difference among three methods in all types of tumor (F=4. 07~30.10 ,P<0.05) except mushroom type (F = 2.44, P> 0. 05). Significant difference was found in determining the displacement on head-foot site among three methods (F= 12.00 ~ 21.16, P < 0. 01 ). Conclusion These findings indicate that C method is more sensitive and correct in mapping the target for CRT in comparison with other two methods.

Tepoxalin is a potent inhibitor of both the cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways of the arachidonic acid cascade, as well as a potent anti-inflammatory and control-pain (postoperation, arthritis et. al.) agent. The new method about the use of novel synthesis reagents and the first using ionic liquid as reactive solvent to synthesize tepoxalin were presented in this paper. The ionic liquid can be easily recycled and reused for several runs efficiently. The analgesic activity of tepoxalin was detected by acetic acid test on mice. The analysis of variance showed that oral administration of tepoxalin could significantly inhibit the number of writhing response within 1 hour and prolong the latent time in a dose dependent manner as compared with CMC control group (P < 0.05). At the same time, tepoxalin had the same analgesic activity as diclofenac sodium.
