Revisão crítica sobre o atendimento a homens autores de violência doméstica e familiar contra as mulheres / A critical review on interventions with male perpetrators of domestic and family violence against women

Este artigo representa uma revisão crítica sobre intervenções com homens autores de violência (HAV) doméstica e familiar contra a mulher, tendo como base a revisão de literatura nacional e estrangeira sobre o tema. Somado a esta revisão, o artigo traz resultados de um estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa sobre um programa governamental de prevenção e atenção à violência doméstica e familiar do Sul do Brasil. Além do trabalho desenvolvido com mulheres em situação de violência, esse programa passou a atuar, em 2004, com HAV, atividade pioneira nesse estado e, à época, uma das poucas realizadas no Brasil por uma organização governamental. Os resultados obtidos a partir deste estudo mostraram que, apesar de os serviços de atendimento a HAV representarem um desafio adicional para o complexo campo de ação voltado à prevenção, atenção e enfrentamento à violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher, eles podem, ao mesmo tempo, constituir novas possibilidades para esse campo, à medida que, aliados às ações já dirigidas às mulheres, podem contribuir para diminuir essa violência e promover a equidade de gênero.

This paper is a critical review on interventions with male perpetrators of violence against women, grounded in the revision of national and foreign literature on the theme and results from a case study with a qualitative approach of a governmental domestic and family violence prevention and action program from the South of Brazil. Besides working with women victims of violence, this program has been attending male perpetrators of violence against women since 2004, a pioneer service in this state, and at that time, one of the few developed in Brazil by a governmental organization. The results of this study showed that although these interventions with male perpetrators of violence represent an additional challenge to the complex field of prevention, attention and confrontation of domestic and family violence against women, they can, when developed along with activities already directed to women, create new possibilities to this field, contributing to decrease this violence and promote gender equity.

Homens, gênero e violência contra a mulher / Men, gender and violence against women

Considerando o compromisso do Estado brasileiro de coibir e prevenir a violência contra a mulher, firmado em várias conferências internacionais e tendo em vista a promulgação da Lei 11.340/06 - a Lei Maria da Penha -, este artigo tem como objetivo realizar uma reflexão sobre a incorporação dos homens e da perspectiva de gênero nos esforços de prevenção e atenção à violência contra as mulheres. Apesar do crescente interesse da literatura científica e da intervenção em saúde com o envolvimento dos homens, em especial, no campo dos direitos sexuais e reprodutivos, comparativamente, reflexões e intervenções com homens autores de violência contra a mulher têm recebido bem menos atenção de órgãos governamentais, não-governamentais e pela academia. O artigo apresenta alguns conceitos e dados sobre a violência contra as mulheres e descreve um panorama sobre a conexão entre gênero, saúde e masculinidades; analisa trabalhos que abordam os temas homens e violência contra as mulheres e apresenta algumas ações voltadas à prevenção dessa forma de violência junto à população masculina; e por fim tece algumas considerações finais sobre o tema.

Considering the commitment made by the Brazilian Government to restrain and prevent violence against women, signed in various international conferences, and in view of the promulgation of the Law 11.340/06 - Lei Maria da Penha -, this article intends to develop a reflection on the incorporation of men and of the gender perspective in efforts to prevent and attend to violence against women. Despite the increasing interest of scientific literature and health intervention in the involvement of men, especially in the field of sexual and reproductive rights, comparatively, reflections and interventions directed at men who have committed violence against women have received far less attention from governmental and non-governmental institutions, and from the academy. The article presents some concepts and data on violence against women and provides an overview of the connection between gender, health and masculinities; it analyzes some studies that approach the subject of men and violence against women and shares some experiences carried out with men to prevent this form of violence; finally, it offers some final thoughts on the subject.
