Résumé

Introduction: Laparoscopic surgeries in various surgical specialties are most routinely performed with general anesthesia. Thephysiological effects of intra-abdominal CO2 insufflation combined with the variations in patient positioning can have a majorimpact on cardiorespiratory function. Prolongation of corrected QT interval (QTc) has been known to predispose torsades depointes, a potentially fatal ventricular arrhythmia may occur during CO2 insufflation. Our aim is to evaluate the effect of insufflationof CO2 on QT interval and QTc during prolonged laparoscopic surgeries.Methodology: Fifty patients of American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status 1 and 2, of either sex, between the agesof 25 and 65 years posted for laparoscopic surgeries included in the study. After general anesthesia, we measured mean arterialpressure, heart rate, SpO2 and ETCO2 before anesthesia induction, before CO2 insufflation, 30, 60, 120, and 150 min after CO2insufflation, 5 min after CO2 deflation, and at the end of surgery. We observed statistically significant increase of QTc intervalaround 120 min after CO2 insufflation. Conclusion: The cause of this QTc interval prolongation is multifactorial and clinical significance of producing life-threateningcardiac arrhythmias has to be determined.

Résumé

Introduction: Life style of humans, with changes in diet, exercise and life style practices which play an important role in enhancing the progression of age related degenerative problems like dementia. The most common cause of dementia in the world is Alzheimer’s disease which ultimately decrease the cognitive function mainly learning and memory. The objective of the study was to find the multi target potential efficacy of the ligands, Glabridin and Diosmetin in altering the two main molecular targets of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The target enzymes were amyloid binding alcohol dehydrogenase (ABAD) and β-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1). Material and methods: In this study, we analyzed that multitarget potential of the two natural compounds on the two prior target enzymes of Alzheimer’s disease which are mainly involved in producing neurodegeneration. Drug likeness properties, absorption, digestion metabolic and toxicity profile and molecular docking were analyzed to determine therapeutic aspect by virtual methods. Results: Binding energy and Vander Waals force of Diosmetin were higher than Glabridin with the target ABAD and less than with BACE1 which showed that both drugs can be used in modulating the enzyme phosphorylation in Alzheimer’s disease. Conclusion: Glabridin and Diosmetin could be used as promising drug candidates as ABAD inhibitor and BACE1 inhibitor in Alzheimer’s disease

Résumé

Field experiments were conducted during 2002-2003 on clay loam, sandy loam and red loam soil at Sivapuri, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, to evaluate the efficacy of vermicompost on the physico-chemical and biological characteristics of the soils and on the yield and nutrient content of blackgram - Vigna mungo, in comparison to inorganic fertilizers nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium. Vermicompost had increased the pore space, reduced particle and bulk density, increased water holding capacity, cation exchange capacity, reduced pH and electrical conductivity, increased organic carbon content, available nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and microbial population and activity in all the soil types, particularly clay loam. The yield and quality [protein and sugar content in seed] of blackgram was enhanced in soils, particularly clay loam soil. On the contrary, the application of inorganic fertilizers has resulted in reduced porosity, compaction of soil, reduced carbon and reduced microbial activity
