Résumé
Left ventricular [LV] remodeling after acute anterior Q-wave [AMI] myocardial infarction was studied using single photon emission computed tomography [SPECT] thallium imaging. Initial [post pharmacologic stress] and 3 hours delayed reinjection images were obtained in 25 patients aged 60 +/- 11 years. Short axis slices from the delayed images were quantitatively analyzed by measuring the inner and outer diameters and wall thickness. The results were compared to those obtained in a group of normal subjects

The objective was to study the relationship between varying levels of potassium at hospital admission and cardiac dysrhythmias in patients with acute MI. This study included the potassium values and ECG evaluations for 470 patients [376 males and 94 females]. Serum potassium levels on admission were related to certain supraventricular and ventricular dysrhythmias with special interest in VF

This study was carried out in the Cardiology Department of Al-Hussein University Hospital in the period between January 1992 to February 1993. Patients were chosen from those who were candidates for percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty [PBMV]. They were 20 [10 males and 10 females], for whom echocardiography was done before, immediate [24-48 hours] and 3 months after PBMV. Left atrial size decreased from 4.82 +/- 0.38 cm before the procedure to 4.26 +/- 79 cm and to 3.72 +/- 0.509 cm immediately after and 3 months after the procedure, respectively. Results were statistically significant
