Honey is an ancient remedy for the treatment of infected wounds, which has recently been 'rediscovered' by the medical profession, particularly where conventional modern therapeutic agents are failing. There are now many published reports describing the effectiveness of honey in rapidly clearing infection from wounds, with no adverse effects to show the healing process. There is also some evidence to suggest that honey may actively promote healing. In laboratory studies, it has been shown to have an antimicrobial action against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi. However, further research is needed to optimize the effective use of this agent in clinical practice

Dietetics or regimen of health define a controlled way of eating in order to preserve one's health, as opposed to impulsive eating which does not care about consequences. Diet was regarded as being essential for health and the prevention of disease since Medieval times. Dietary guidelines were written for different age groups, different body types and different seasons of the year. The amount of food to be ingested, the number of meals recommended and the order in which the food should be consumed were all issues that were discussed. A variety of foods were thought to have medicinal properties, some of which are known today. The present paper discusses in detail the principle of dietetics mentioned in the Holy Quran and by Unani physicians

The use of honey [Asl Khalis] in the treatment of external and internal ailments must be much older than the history of medicine itself. According to Unani medicine, it is used as nutritive agent and therapeutically has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, detergent, deobstruent, lithotryptic and wound healing properties. Honey consists of glucose, fructose, water, maltose, trisaccharides and other carbohydrates, sucrose, mineral, proteins, vitamins and enzymes. An attempt has been made here to review the scientific evidences regarding usefulness of Honey [Asl Khalis] as a drug used in Unani medicine.

Hippocrates, Dioscorides and other Unani Physicians also described this disease. Psoriasis is a non-contagious idiopathic skin disorder which also include the joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches appearing on the skin. Herbal or aromatherapeutic agents could be useful in this context. Here authors review the herbal drugs which have antipsoriasis property and benefited the patients of this disease. Asgand consists of roots of Withania somnifera [Family: Solanaceae], a well-famed drug in Indian system of medicine especially Unani and Ayurveda. The similarity in the restorative properties of Asgand and ginseng roots has led to Asgand being named as [Indian ginseng] Crude powder of Asgand was studied in rats for their ability to inhibit the nephrotoxicity induced by cadmium chloride. Cadmium is a well-known toxicant with the reported effect in mammal kidney tissue [Friberg, 1959, Funakoshi et al, 1995, Srivastava et al, 1996]. Crude powder of Asgand [Withania somnifera] significantly inhibited the toxicity produced by Cadmium chloride
