RÉSUMÉ

The study aims at assessing knowledge of personnel working in day care nurseries in the city of Alexandria regarding psychosocial needs of preschool children. A systematic random sample which represented one third of the licensed nurseries from each region of Alexandria was chosen. Thus, the total number of nurseries included in the study was forty with 300 persons working in them [40 directors, 180 supervisors, 40 nurses, and 40 social workers]. Data collected through the use of interview questionnaire. Findings of the study showed that the personnel lacked knowledge regarding psychological development and problems of preschool children, next area was play and outdoor recreation, then discipline and last independence, recommendations were given accordingly

RÉSUMÉ

The over-all purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between the nursing curriculum content of the High Institute of Nursing Cairo University and Job performance of its graduates. The study also aims at investigating graduate's medical and nursing administrators expectations. A check list consisting of 122 nursing behavior items that was derived from curriculum was developed. Total sample consisted of 68 graduates and 27 administrators. Data collected through interview. Findings showed that there is neither discrepancy between graduates academic preparation and their job performance nor between graduates performance and administrators expectations. Graduates utilization was higher for area of environment followed by patient care and lastly personnel management

RÉSUMÉ

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an educational program on the knowledge of nurse's/midwives and head nurses working in primary care settings in Egypt. The program was developed and implemented in four sessions; 2 sessions 2 hours each, and 2 sessions 3 hours each. Each session included theory as well as practice. It was given by lectures, discussion and demonstrations. Audio-visual media were also used-Small group teaching was also applied. The sample comprised 116 nurses/midwives and 24 head nurses working in maternal child care centers rural health [or combined] units and health offices. Findings of the study showed that the program was effective in enhancing nurse's knowledge regarding maternal and child health and family planning. Their highest gains in the area of antenatal and postnatal care, and breast self examination, However their lowest gains were in areas of newborn care and methods of contraceptions [oral and intra-uterine devices] where head nurses and nurses had equal gain

RÉSUMÉ

The study was carried out to evaluate the nursing needs of discharged surgical patients in the Main University Hospital of Alexandria. A total of 156 surgical patients were interviewed using an appraisal tool to determine their nursing needs. The findings revealed that slightly more than one third [54] of the sample needed continuity of care upon discharge. About half of them needed health teaching and supervision, direct nursing care and observation and rehabilitation and exercises. The rest of the needs were in the following order: further therapy and investigation, special nursing procedures, attendance to emotional and social problems, special needs such as geriatric care and associated medical conditions. The hospital only identified the needs of 20 patients. Their main recognition was for further therapy and investigations. However, they had other nursing needs that were identified by this study. The study also showed that nursing needs differed according to the type of operations and illnesses. The study recommended the development of a referral system to provide continuity of care for discharged hospital patients
