Résumé

Respiratory tract infections represent significant proportion of hospital acquired infections, About 15-20% of all hospital acquired infections are of the lower respiratory tracts which are the leading causes of mortality. Pulmonary ventilation or instrumentation may lead to nosocomial pneumonia. The primary risk factor for the development of hospital associated bacterial pneumonia is mechanical ventilation, which is often associated with a dramatic increase in length of hospital slay and total hospital costs. This study aims to assess infection control measures for patient caring on mechanical ventilation. The study was conducted in the respiratory intensive care unit at benha university hospitals on convenient Sample of 60 nurses and physicians caring for patient on mechanical ventilation were recruited for the purpose of the study. Three tools were used, nursing assessment sheet, pretest to assess infection control practice and rating scale, questionnaire to assess attitude of the nurses and physicians included in the study. The highest percent of correct nurse's knowledge was for hand washing between patients

Résumé

The aim of the present study is to assess mothers' knowledge and practices regarding care of their children suffering from acute leukemia undergoing chemotherapy, establish and implement a health educational program for mothers based on their needs, data obtained and reviewing literature and evaluate the outcome of the health educational program directed towards the mothers of acute leukemia children undergoing chemotherapy. The study conducted at the pediatric oncology out patient clinics at the waiting areas in the specialized pediatric hospital in Benha city, which this is the only established known place in kalubyia governorate that provides care to such children. A quasi experimental design was utilized to conduct the study. The study involved [53] children suffering from acute leukemia undergoing chemotherapy and accompanying their mothers and attending the out patients clinics for follow up and treatment. Two tools were used for data collection an interviewing questionnaire to assess the children's and their mothers' socio-demographic data, also the mothers' knowledge and an observation checklists to assess the mothers' practices towards care of their acute leukemic children undergoing chemotherapy. The findings showed that after the program implementation there was a significant improvement of mothers' knowledge and practices regarding care of their acute leukemic children undergoing chemotherapy. The study recommended that, continuous health education for mothers caring of acute leukemic children at home based on their needs and teaching them the principles of care for problems emerged as a result of their children disease and its related therapy

Résumé

Mastectomy is an operation in which the entire breast, usually including the nipple and the areola, is removed. It is usually performed as a treatment of breast cancer. The study aimed to assess the impact of health educational program among mastectomy patients through; Assess the patient physical, and psychosocial needs; Design and implement a health educational program according to patients needs and evaluate the outcome of health educational program according to their needs. The study was conducted in the patient surgical unit at Benha University Hospitals and Teaching Hospitals in Bertha City. Sample of 60 mastectomy female patients were divided into two equal groups [30 patients for each], Data was collected through questionnaire sheet: socio-demographic data, life style, patient's knowledge and information, Malad justment assessment sheet to assess the level of Malad justment expressed by the patients. The results imply that there were significant differences between pre and post program implementation regarding patient's knowledge and information. There were a significant difference pre and post program implementation in relation to patient's needs. In conclusion, the study revealed that the program had a positive effect on the patient's knowledge and needs. Replication of the in-service educational program for patients with mastectomy to upgrade their knowledge and improve their life style is highly recommended

Résumé

The prevalence of diabetes is increasing globally, particularly in the developing countries. The diabetic foot is one of the most devastating chronic complications of diabetes. The study was conducted at outpatient's clinic of Benha Hospital in Kaluobia governorate. The study aimed to prevent the diabetic foot problems among diabetic patients through: assess, design, implement a health education program according to patient's needs to manage the five aspects of diabetic good control [nutrition, exercise, medication, monitoring and education], and to evaluate the outcome of the program. The sample was 80 patients were chosen randomly, 3 to 4 patients daily for one month according to criteria. Two tools were used for data collection: an interviewing questionnaire to assess patient's knowledge and observation check list to assess their practice for urine - glucose test and giving insulin injection. It was shown that, statistically, there were highly significant improvement in the five aspects of diabetic control and prevention of foot problems after applying the program. This study suggests that, all diabetic patients need health education about the safe five aspects of diabetic control, screening, mass media and continuing nursing education, which should play significant roles to prevent complications and foot problems
