Résumé

The retention and stability of the obturator for the patient who has maxillary resection are major problems. A removable partial denture with a swing lock retentive design system provides retention and stability due to the continuous splinting of the remaining teeth during function and a passive multiple retentive clasp system during relaxation. However, because of the danger of the possible orthodontic action of the swing lock system and the unacceptable appearance of the struts over the remaining teeth, the present study overcame these two problems

Résumé

Eighteen overdenture patients were included in this study. The patients were equally divided into two main groups. Group I received m and ibular conventional overdentures without any kind of attachments, while group II received m and ibular overdentures attached to the retained abutments with zest anchor connector. Periodontal health status of the abutments was evaluated using st and ardized periodontal indices. Statistical comparisons of the data after eight months recall revealed better scores in all the parameters in group I over group II patients

Résumé

This article discussed a proposed design of the anterior maxillary partial denture that can splint the remaining periodontally weakened teeth. The design has an excellent appearance because of the absence of the anterior clasping. It is comfortable to the patient as it does not have extension to the palatal mucosa and the bar major connector is located away from the gingival margin to provide an access to the gingiva by the tongue

Résumé

The masticatory performance of occlusal reactive and conventional single dentures were tested and compared. The results demonstrated that the occlusal reactive single denture was more comfortable and had better masticatory efficiency

Résumé

The purpose of this article was to present a simple technique for the fabrication of a closed hollow obturator. This method controls the thickness of the walls and minimizes the possibility of fluid leakage into the hollow bulb extension. A technique for the fabrication of a closed hollow obturator has been presented. The procedure is simple, time conserving and results in an accurate, light weight, non-porous prosthesis. The present technique can provide the following advantages: Control of the thickness of the walls of the bulb portion; the technique is simple, i.e., one flasking step; minimal amount of self-cure acrylic resin exposes to the oral environment; and accuracy is assured because the relationship of the various components is maintained
