Résumé

In this work, the proliferative activity of cells in the various histologic subtypes of HD was investigated using the Pc 10 antibody. Twenty three paraffin blocks from patients with HD as well as five cases of reactive lumphoid tissue were immunostained for Pc10 using ABC technique. The Pc 10 positive cells were quantitatively evaluated and statistically compared to control group. From the results of this study the following could be concluded: 1-The immunoreactivity to Pc 10 in HD was significantly higher than those found in infammatory lymphoid tissue. This confirms the malignant nature of the disease.2- As nearly all HRS cells and their variants were Pc 10 positive, this provides further evidence for their supposed malignant nature. 3- Pc 10 immunoreactivity provides an additional objective support for the histologic grading of the Rye classification of HD in general. 4- According to the mean value of Pc 10 positive cells in various subtypes of HD, it could be of value to subdivide HD cases as either of high or low proliferative activity. 5-The proliferative activity of HD cells may be a useful adjucnt to the histologically based classification of HD [Rye] to identify tumors which show the same histology but are of different kinetic characteristics. This may help in planning the different lines of treatment of HD. 6-There remain some doubts as to the relationship between Pc10 expression in 9-eosinophils and cell proliferation in some cases of HD. Thus, further studies are needed to determine the exact relation between eosinophils and HRS cells of HD
