Résumé

Cervical cytology and colposcopic assessment of the same patients was carried out in Gynaecology Outpatient Clinic. Subjective selection of 250 adult females, presenting with vaginal discharge, postcoital intermenstrual bleeding, backache and cervical eclopy was done.Fiftv patients [20%] were dropped out clue to non compliance. One hundred and eight, two [91%] women were below the age of 40 years and eighteen females [9%] were above 41 yeas. Cervical cytology was normal in 75% samples. Eight% were showing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia WIN, I, II]. Seventeen% were having inflamatory iy changes. On colposcopy 20% cases showed abnormalities as aceto-white epithelium scluamous melaplasia orabnormal vascularpattern. Cervical polbp were seen in 8% women, colposcopically guided cervical punch biopsy in 18% patients showed inflamatory changes.Use of colposcope for the evaluation of gynaecological problems is indisposible in clinical practice. An awareness of population about the carcinoma cervix and collaboration among clinicians, cytologists and colposcopists is essential for prevention of carcinoma cervix

Résumé

A graded dose of amantadine hydrochloride [AM] was used for 14 days to elucidate the scrum prolactin [PRL] suppressive effect in the following two groups:- Eleven normoprolactinemic subjects, both males and females, were compared with nine hyperprolactinemic patients having pituitary adenoma or unknown etiology. In the normoprolactinemic subjects basal PRL 9.64 +/- 1.66 ng/ml [mean +/- SEM] was reduced with 100mg and 200mg AM daily [28.50 +/- 5.18% and 28.08 +/- 4.62% respectively]. In hyperprolactinemic subject, the basal PRL 74.22 +/- 24.97 [mean +/- SEM] was suppressed [14.56 +/- 9.64% and 22.79 +/- 6.62% respectively] after administration of drug. Normal subjects have significant suppression of PRL [P<0.05] with both low and higher doses as compared to the basal level. But hyperprolactinemic patients have insignificant suppression [P>0.05] with AM. It suggests an altered response of pituitary to Dopamine [DA] agonists. The integrity of central dopaminergic system in tubero infundibular axis may be disrupted in pituitary adenoma
