Résumé

Nowadays is most accepted that the treatment of lung cancer can not be carried out without the confluence of a multidisciplinary team. The principal goal after the diagnosis of non-small cell lung caner (NSCLC) has been established, is to determine if the patient is an operative candidate. NSCLC is staged according to an internationally recognized set of tumor, node and metastatic site descriptions. Physicians are asked to judge the suitability of patients to undergo surgical procedures, the importance of informed consent should be recorded in the medical chart, preventing legal consequences. Oncologic surgery should be performed with different criteria (curative, palliative and diagnostic) are mentioned indications of each surgical case and the resource available for biopsy. Today is important to use the videomediastinoscopy and videothoracoscopy. The author describes the Chamberlain biopsy and other biopsies available at present with easy access and higher diagnostic yield. Extractions of biopsy specimens for detection of NSCLC, are describe and evaluated in the article.
