Résumé

Matrix metalloproteinases [MMPs] plays a role in the several physiologic and pathologic events. There is some evidence indicating the involvement of MMPs in tumor invasion and inflammatory diseases. In this study we evaluated the effect of cell wall Candida albicans fraction on MMP production by the fibrosarcoma cell line using an in vitro cytotoxicity assay, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide, and gelatin zymography. It was an experimental study. Fraction of cell wall Candida albicans was extracted by lysis buffer and] 0, 10, 50, 100 [micro g/ml from fraction was added to human fibrosarcoma cell line in 96 well microplate and inhibitory effect on tumor cell invasion was investigated by MTT and zymography test. Our results showed that fraction of cell wall Candida albicans was found to exhibit a inhibitory effect on tumor cell line in MTT test because the viability of tumor cells was decreased versus the control groups. Also the production of metalloproteinases enzyme in presence of fraction was diminished significantly [P<0.05]. Since inhibition of MMP activity has been employed in modality therapy in diseases such as cancer, this fraction could be promised in the preparation of anti-MMP therapeutic derivatives

Résumé

Effluent generated in several industries contains phenolic compounds, which have been classified as priority pollutants. Due to its toxicity, the conventional systems are inefficient for treatment of phenol-Laden wastewater. Biological processes using pure microbial culture, including fungi and yeast, are environmentally friendly techniques capable of complete destruction of contaminants. This work was aimed at investigating the efficiency of a fungi specie in the decomposition of high concentrations of phenol ranging from 500 to 20000 mg/L. Several batch reactors were operated at different phenol concentration. The concentration of residual phenol was monitored over time using colorimetric method 4-aminoantipyrine. The removal efficiency was calculated considering the initial phenol concentration. Experimental data indicated that the phenol could efficiently degrade using the selected culture. The developed granules could completely degrade phenol at concentrations up to 20000 mg/L. It can be concluded from the experimental data that the biodegradation using the Fungi granules is a very efficient and thus promising technique for treatment of wastewaters containing phenolic compounds

Résumé

Aspergillosis is an opportunistic fungal disease caused by different species of aspergillus. Clinical manifestation and severity of disease related to physiological conditions of host, involved organs and aspergillus species. Cinnamomum zeylanicum is an evergreen tree 10-15 meter length and belongs to Lauraceae family. It grows in Srilanka. Its essential oil has antimicrobial activity. Study of Antifungal activity of this essential oil against clinical isolates of aspergillus and determination of MIC. Broth microdilution method was used in this research .Essential oil of Cinnamomum zeylanicum was extracted by means of Clevenger apparatus then its MICs on clinical isolates of Aspergillus were calculated by broth microdilution method. Number of samples was twenty seven. MICs are: eight isolates: 1.18 micro g/ml, six isolates: 0.59 micro g/ml, four isolates: 0.29 micro g/ml, five isolates: 0.14 micro g/ml and four isolates: 0.07 micro g/ml. In view of the fact that Cinnamomum zeylanicum essential oil was effective against all isolates in this research, we recommend the investigation of its antifungal properties Invivo
