Pharmacognostical evaluation of caesalpinia sappan heartwood

Caesalpinia sappan heartwood is used in folklore in India. The present work attempts to summarize the pharmacognostical characters of the heartwood of this plant. Ash and extractive values; phytochemical tests, HPTLC and fluorescence analysis were carried out.
