Résumé

In addition to providing energy for cells, mitochondria also participate in calcium homeostasis, cell information transfer, cell apoptosis, cell growth and differentiation. Therefore, maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis is very crucial for the body to carry out normal life activities. Ubiquitination, a post-translational modification of proteins, is involved in various physiological and pathological processes of cells by regulating mitochondrial homeostasis. However, the mechanism by which ubiquitination regulates mitochondrial homeostasis has not been summarized, especially the effect of Parkin protein on cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, the specific mechanism of mitochondrial homeostasis regulated by ubiquitination of Parkin protein is discussed, and the influence of mitochondrial homeostasis imbalance on cardiovascular diseases is reviewed, with a view to providing potential therapeutic strategies for the clinical treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Résumé

Objective:To investigate the correlation of peripheral blood relative mitochondrial DNA copy number(mtDNAcn)with intrinsic capacity and body composition, and to identify potential biomarkers for healthy aging. Methods:Clinical data of 416 patients admitted to our hospital from September 2019 to June 2021 were consecutively collected.MtDNA was extracted from peripheral blood of these subjects, and mtDNAcn was determined by a real-time fluoresence quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). Intrinsic capacity assessment included 5 aspects that were exercise[Morse Fall Scale(MFS), Physiological Frailty Phenotype(PFP), Sarcopenia Questionnaire(SARC-CALF), Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB), Time Up and Go Test(TUG)]; vitality[Mini Nutritional Assessment(MNA), Multidimensional Prognostic Index(MPI)]; cognition[Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)scale]; psychology[Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)]; sensory capacities[Cumulative Illness Rating Scale-the Comorbidity Index(CIRS-CI)]. To assess body composition, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was used to measure body fat, including trunk fat, total body fat, fat in the abdominal region, fat in the buttock region, and then to calculate fat index(FMI)and limb skeletal muscle mass index(ASMI).Results:Spearman correlation analysis showed that mtDNAcn had a negatively correlation with age( r=-0.176, P<0.05). After adjustment for gender and body mass index, partial correlation analysis showed mtDNAcn were still negatively correlated with age( r=-0.144, P<0.05). Furthermore, mtDNAcn was significantly correlated with 4 m gait speed, the scores of SARC-CalF, MFS, MNA, MMSE, MPI and its sub-scale's Activities of Daily Living(ADL)and Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire(SPMSQ)( r=0.171, -0.207, -0.163, 0.221, 0.184, -0.210, 0.241, -0.269, all P<0.05). After adjustment for age, gender and body mass index, partial correlation analysis showed mtDNAcn still had a significant correlation with gait speed, the scores of MFS, MNA, MPI and SPMSQ( r=0.170, -0.170, 0.148, -0.242, -0.188, all P<0.05). In addition, the Spearman correlation analysis showed that mtDNAcn was positively correlated with FMI, trunk fat, total body fat, abdominal fat and fat in the buttock region( r=0.168, 0.143, 0.175, 0.116, 0.199, all P<0.05). However, after adjustment for age and gender, mtDNAcn was only correlated with FMI, total body fat, fat in the buttock region( r=0.126, 0.131, 0.127, all P<0.05). On the other hand, multiple linear regression analysis showed that mtDNAcn was significantly correlated with age, gait speed, FMI, total body fat, fat in the buttock region, the scores of MFS, PFP, MNA and MPI( β=-0.191, 0.156, 0.126, 0.131, 0.125, -0.119, -0.145, 0.151, -0.171, all P<0.05). Conclusions:MtDNAcn is correlated with physical function, frailty, nutrition, falling, cognition and body composition, and may be considered as a biomarker for the evaluation of the locomotion and vitality of human intrinsic capacity.

Objective:To investigate short-term safety, efficacy and the learning curve of this self-developed novel transcatheter valve repair system (Neonova?) in patients with mitral regurgitation, and explore the role of perioperative echocardiography. Methods:Ten patients who visited the Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from June 2021 to March 2022 and met the inclusive criteria were prospectively enrolled. All the patients were at high risk of surgery with moderate to severe or severe mitral regurgitation (MR). Clamps of Neonova? were implanted under guidance of transesophageal echocardiography and digital subtraction angiography. Clinical outcomes, echocardiography indexes and learning curves of this technique were evaluated immediately after intervention, 7 d, 1 month and 3 months post-intervention.Results:The technical success rate was 100% with MR relieved in all patients immediately after intervention. The device and procedural success rates were both 90.0% with 1 patient received surgical replacement at 37 days post-intervention while the others′ reduced to mild (8/9) and moderate (1/9) MR. New York Heart Association class and the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire improved significantly (all P<0.001). Mean mitral valve pressure gradient didn′t increase significantly after intervention when compared with that before intervention( P=0.324), and no mitral stenosis was observed. Left ventricular end-diastolic diameter decreased significantly ( P=0.008) during follow up.Procedure duration ranged from 60 to 300 (175.8±75.2)minutes. The simple linear regression model between procedure volume and duration showed that procedure duration decreased significantly with the increase of procedure volume ( F=15.857, P=0.004). Conclusions:Neonova? implantation can improve MR severity and clinical symptoms safely and effectively. Transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography are essential for perioperative management of transcatheter mitral valve repair.

Aim To explore the potential targets and mechanisms of Houpuwenzhongtang for the treatment of spleen and stomach deficiency cold stomach disease. Methods Firstly, TCMSP database, disease database and compound target prediction platform were used to collect active components, disease targets and predict potential targets. Secondly, Cytoscape 3.7.2 and String platform were used to screen key chemical components and core targets, and PPI network diagram was constructed. Finally, The active components with degree greater than 30 were used for molecular docking with key targets, and some docking results were selected for cell experiment. Results The key active components of Houpuwenzhongtang in the treatment of spleen and stomach deficiency cold stomach disease were hesperidin, magnolol, 6-gingerol, and so on. The key targets were JUN, AKT1, IL-8, etc.. The related pathways mainly involved immune response, signaling transduction, cell proliferation and apoptosis. Molecular docking results showed that the key active components had good binding activity with disease targets. The results of cell experiments showed that magnolol, hesperidin and 6-gingerol had different degrees of anti-inflammatory activity against IL-8 in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions It is speculated that Houpuwenzhongtang may act on IL-8, JUN, AKT1 and other targets through magnolol, hesperidin,6-gingerol and other active ingredients, and participate in the regulation of PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, N F-K B signaling pathway for the treatment of spleen and stomach deficiency cold stomach disease. And it is found for the first time that 6-gingerol could stably bind to multiple disease targets related spleen and stomach deficiency cold stomach disease, such as AKT1,IL-8 and so on. The result suggests that 6-gingerol is worth further research. Through the results of IL-8 cell experiment, it is speculated that the components such as magnolol and hesperidin may play a role in gastric diseases caused by Helicobacter pylori infection by reducing the content of IL-8 in gastric mucosa.

Background/Aims@#Long-term immunosuppressive therapies used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are associated with an increased risk of infections, many of which can be prevented by vaccination. We assessed physicians’ current approaches and clinical practices regarding vaccinations for IBD patients in different Asian countries/regions. @*Methods@#An internet-based survey was conducted among members of the Asian Organization for Crohn’s and Colitis from September 2020 to November 2020. The questionnaire consisted of 2 parts covering general opinion on the relevance of vaccinations and clinical practice of vaccination. @*Results@#Overall, 384 Asian medical doctors responded to the survey. The majority of respondents considered it very (57.6%) or sufficiently (39.6%) important to perform vaccinations as recommended by the guidelines. About half of the Asian physicians (52.6%) were usually or always performing vaccinations. The influenza vaccine was the most frequently recommended vaccine for IBD patients. Half of the respondents (51.3%) did not recommend hepatitis A vaccine, especially in China (61.6%) and Japan (93.6%). The diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine were never (35.2%) or rarely (29.4%) recommended. @*Conclusions@#The findings of this survey indicated similarities among countries/regions in terms of the current approaches and practices regarding vaccination of IBD patients; however, there are some differences that might reflect each country’s domestic vaccination guidelines and health insurance particularly with certain vaccines in some countries/regions. Although Asian physicians largely recommend vaccination, more awareness among doctors and Asian consensus regarding differences in IBD vaccination among countries/regions may be required.

C17 is an orally available anti-tumor compound inhibiting cancer stem cell (CSC). In this study, a stable, sensitive and simple liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was established and validated, and was further applied to a pharmacokinetic study in nude mice receiving C17 by gavage. Using propranolol as the internal standard, the plasma samples were pre-treated by precipitation with methanol and analyzed on an Intersil C8-3 column (100 mm × 2.1 mm, 3 μm), and gradient elution was performed with a mobile phase consisting of 0.1% formic acid aqueous and solution mixed up by 90% isopropanol and 10% acetonitrile. The analyte was detected by a triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer, and multiple reaction monitoring was employed to select C17 at m/z 439.3/247.1 and propranolol at m/z 260.2/116.2 in the positive ion mode. The calibration curves were linear (r > 0.995) over the range of 5-800 ng·mL-1. The intra- and inter-day precisions and accuracies were 7.42%-13.22% and -8.99%-8.81% respectively. The method was successfully applied to a PK study in nude mice administered with a single oral dose of 50 mg·kg-1 C17, and the PK data were analyzed with non-linear mixed effect model (NONMEM). Two separated absorption peaks were found in the PK curve of C17, and a two-compartment model with two sequential first-order absorption rate was utilized to describe the PK properties of C17, and the model could provide insights into the physiological process and exposure of C17 in nude mice. All animal experiments were in strict accordance with the regulations of the Biomedical Ethics Committee of Peking University.

Résumé

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory syndrome induced by infection and other factors, with the number of patients worldwide exceeding 10 million each year. The pathophysiological mechanism is of this disease complex. Sepsis is often accompanied by endotoxin translocation, gastrointestinal dysfunction, inflammatory cytokine activation, immune dysregulation, coagulation disorder, multiple organ function impairment and many other body imbalances, as well as systemic inflammation, apoptosis, oxidative stress injury and other cell damage mechanisms. This disease causes a heavy medical burden due to the difficult diagnosis and treatment and the poor prognosis. Great progress has been achieved in the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine. The value of western medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis is limited due to antibiotic resistance, hormone abuse, and high medical costs. Sepsis is classified as a warm disease or typhoid fever in TCM. Da Chengqitang is a classical formula in the Treatise on Typhoid Fever to deal with the excess syndrome of Yang brightness Fu-organ. Modern medicine has proved that Da Chengqitang has the effect of inhibiting oxidative stress, reducing inflammation, and delaying apoptosis by improving gastrointestinal dynamics and regulating intestinal microecology. On the basis of the previous theoretical basis and the rich experience in the medication, medical practitioners have proposed a new therapeutic concept of using Da Chengqitang in combination with western drugs from a holistic view involving both bacteria and toxicity for treating both the symptoms and the root cause, which has a wide range of application. The article reviews the classical research and latest findings of Da Chengqitang in the treatment of sepsis, with a view to clarifying the mechanism and advantages of this formula in the adjuvant treatment of sepsis, exploring its potential efficacy, and providing timely, adequate, and scientific theoretical support for the promotion of this formula in the clinical practice.

Résumé

Clarifying the mechanisms of Chinese medicinal processing is pivotal to the modernization of Chinese medicine. Research on Chinese medicinal processing gives priority to the mechanisms of the processing in enhancing efficacy, reducing toxicity, and repurposing medicinals. During the past 20 years, scholars have carried out in-depth studies on the mechanisms of Chinese medicinal processing via modern system biology. They mainly focused on the changes of medicinal properties and efficacy caused by processing using techniques of modern pharmacology and molecular biology, spectrum-efficacy correlation, and biophoton emission. However, these techniques fail to reflect the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine. With the introduction of system biology, multi-omics techno-logies(genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) have surged, which have been applied to the research on the mec-hanisms of Chinese medicinal processing. These multi-omics technologies have advantages in the research on holism. This study aims to summarize the research techniques and approaches in system biology for mechanisms of Chinese medicinal processing in the past 20 years and analyze the limitations and advantages of them. It is concluded that the multi-omics techniques of system biology can reconstruct the mechanisms of Chinese medicinal processing. This study provides a new direction for further research on the mechanisms of Chinese medicinal processing.

Résumé

The research on the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine is the key and core foundation to improve processing technologies of Chinese medicine, formulate the quality standards of Chinese medicinal pieces, enhance the clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine, enrich Chinese medicine processing theories, and promote the development of Chinese medicine processing. Many researc-hers have conducted in-depth exploration on the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine in the 20 years in the 21 st century. Significant progress has been made in the transformation of chemical components during the processing, the change of active components in the body, the law of toxicity attenuation in the processing of toxic Chinese medicine, the mechanism of efficacy enhancement and toxicity attenuation of processing with auxiliary materials, and the application of new biomedical technologies. At present, the processing mechanism of multiple Chinese medicines has been preliminarily clarified, which has greatly promoted the development of Chinese me-dicine processing. The development of the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine reveals that the in vitro transformation of chemical components is combined with the in vivo absorption, transport, and metabolism, and the macroscopic biological effects of the organism are combined with the cells, molecules, targets, and pathways in the study of the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine. More attention has been paid to exploring the processing mechanism from the overall level, and a modern systematic research system on the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine has been initially formed. To further promote the scientific development of Chinese me-dicine processing, the present study proposed that the research on the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine should take Chinese medicine properties into account, focus on the influence of disease condition on the mode of action and effect strength of the drugs, comply with the characteristics of clinical compound compatibility of Chinese medicine, use the holistic view research strategies of systems bio-logy, and deeply explore the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine from traditional Chinese medicine theories and the characteristics of clinical medication of Chinese medicine.

Résumé

Chinese medicine undergoes complex chemical changes during processing and identifying these changes is the key to the processing mechanism. In the past 20 years of the 21 st century, research on the chemical changes in Chinese medicine after processing has focused the changes in the biopharmaceutical process in addition to the variation during processing. With the surging of information technologies, various identification technologies(instrumental analysis techniques, molecular biological techniques, data mining techniques, and biotransformation techniques) have developed rapidly and been widely applied to the research on processing mechanism. Thus, based on the chemical changes in the processing and biopharmaceutical process, the author suggested a research tactic of multimodal identification as the core by reorganizing key technologies for chemical identification from studies of the processing mechanism of Chinese me-dicine, aiming at establishing an interdisciplinary multi-dimensional research model for the processing mechanism of Chinese medicine.

Résumé

Objective:To investigate the effect of preoperative pulmonary hypertension (PH) on right ventricular function in patients with heart transplantation(HTx) one year after surgery. Methods:A total of 120 patients who underwent HTx in Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2017 to January 2020 were retrospectively recruited.According to the mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) obtained by preoperative right heart catheterization, the research subjects were divided into the pulmonary hypertension group (PH group, n=81) and without pulmonary hypertension group (NPH group, n=39). Conventional echocardiographic indices of right ventricular function such as right ventricular area change (RV-FAC), tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), tricuspid lateral annular systolic velocity (S′), and two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) strain parameters including right ventricular global longitudinal strain (RV-GLS), right ventricular free wall longitudinal strain (RV-FWLS) were obtained to assess the right ventricular function of grafted hearts. The echocardiographic parameters one year after the operation of the two groups were analyzed to compare the differences in right ventricular function and their correlation with preoperative mPAP. Results:The grafted heart RV-GLS and RV-FWLS were significantly decreased in the PH group (all P<0.01), while RV-FAC, TAPSE, and S′ were similar between the two groups (all P>0.05). RV-FWLS and RV-GLS correlated with preoperative hemodynamic parameter mPAP( rs=-0.46, -0.54; all P<0.05)while RV-FAC, TAPSE, and S′ were not significantly correlated with mPAP (all P>0.05). Conclusions:Preoperative PH correlates with right ventricular function in HTx patients 1 year after the operation. The absolute values of RV-FWLS and RV-GLS in HTx patients with preoperative PH decrease 1 year after the operation. 2D-STI is more sensitive than conventional echocardiography to monitor the changes in right ventricular function in HTx patients after the operation.

Résumé

Background; Sucralfate is a commonly used gastric mucosal protector in clinical practice. It can be dissociated into aluminum hydroxide and sucrose sulfate under the action of gastric acid. As a topical agent, sucralfate is mainly excreted with feces, and the tiny amount of sucralfate absorbed in gastrointestinal tract is excreted with urine in the form of disaccharide sulfate. Aims; To study the effect and safety of a domestic made oral sucralfate suspensoid gel on blood aluminum concentration. Methods; Twenty-three healthy volunteers participated in this study from June 2021 to September 2021 at the Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. All subjects received sucralfate suspensoid gel daily (1 h before breakfast in the morning, and before bedtime in the evening, 1 g each time) for 2 weeks. Blood samples were collected on day 1 (before sucralfate administration) and day 15 (after medication completion) for determination of blood aluminum concentration. Any adverse events (including abnormal laboratory indicators) were recorded. Results: No significant difference was existed in mean blood aluminum concentration of the healthy subjects between time points before and after sucralfate administration [(47. 66 ± 15. 64) μg/L vs. (39. 12 ± 2 0. 42) μg/L, P > 0. 0 5]. All the blood aluminum values after medication were within the reference range (70 μ g/L), so did the blood routine, urine routine and blood biochemical indicators before and after medication. No severe adverse events were reported. Conclusions; The domestic made sucralfate suspensoid gel used in this study for 2 weeks has no adverse effect on blood aluminum concentration in healthy subjects. It is considered to be safe and reliable, and is worthy for clinical application.

Objective:To explore the correlation between blood glucose levels and the three factors of sarcopenia (muscle mass, strength and function) in older Chinese community dwellers. Methods:This is a retrospective study conducted by collecting the data of patients in Jiangsu Huaqiao Road Community Health Service Center from 2018 to 2019. Two hundred and fifty people aged 60 years or elder were selected. Among them, 101 were men and 149 were women. According to the American Diabetes Association diagnostic criteria for diabetes mellitus in 2018, they were divided into normal glucose tolerance (NGT) group, pre-diabetes group and diabetes group. The patients were assessed for sarcopenia as well. Results:Compared with those in the NGT group, muscle mass and upper limb muscle strength did not change in the diabetic group, but lower limb muscle strength and body function [walking speed, balance, short physical performance battery (SPPB)] decreased significantly in the diabetic group. Pearson correlation analyses showed that fasting plasma glucose(FPG) was negatively correlated with walking speed ( r=-0.248, P=0.001), three-pose balance ( r=-0.166, P=0.013) and SSPB ( r=-0.213, P=0.001). Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) was positively correlated with sitting and standing time ( r=0.205, P=0.002), and negatively correlated with three-pose balance ( r=-0.186, P=0.006) and SSPB ( r=-0.154, P=0.024). Multiple regression analyses showed that FPG was negatively associated with walking speed (β=-0.125, P=0.005) and SPPB (β=-0.034, P=0.012), and that HbA1c was positively associated with sitting and standing time (β= 0.218, P =0.006) and negatively associated with three-pose balance (β=-0.143, P=0.012), and SPPB (β=-0.117, P =0.036). Conclusions:There is no significant correlation between blood glucose levels and muscle mass in the elderly; however, FPG is closely correlated with gait speed, and HbA1c is closely correlated with muscle strength of lower limbs and balance ability in the elderly.

Among these differential amino acids, 16 registry Eplets were retrieved such as 19E>19K, 95I>95L, 113YD>113HD and so on.The amino acid substitution of 166DG>166EW, 70Q>70H, 67S>67Y, 94I>94T, 82LR>82RG, and 211G>211A may form new Eplets that have not been registered. The antigens of A11, A24, B15, B27 and B38 can be further subdivided into HLA narrow specific antigens. 【Conclusion】 It was found that there were HLA allele-specific antibodies in patients with PTR, suggesting that high-resolution typing of HLA-A, B should be carried out for these patients and platelet donors in HLA compatible transfusion of PTR.

Résumé

【Objective】 To construct a platelet digital matching information system (PMIS). 【Methods】 The framework of PMIS was designed and the main functions were developed. The information system was connected with the information modules of clinical application, laboratory testing, blood donation service, blood inventory and distribution. Further, the preliminary application of this system will be carried on in clinical. 【Results】 The PMIS had been successfully developed and 5048 blood donors with HLA and HPA genotypes were registered in the system. A total of 306 patients applied for matching and 16.5% of them received compatible platelet reports immediately from the inventory bloods, with the median waiting time of all matching as 3 days, which was significantly shorter than that of the manual method (3.8±3.1 days vs 5.4±5.4 days). 【Conclusion】 The developed PMIS has realized the whole process management of blood donors and patients, which is helpful to improve the platelet matching level.

Résumé

【Objective】 To explore the influence of anti-HLA-Ⅰ with different mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) on the efficacy of HLA-A and -B gene matching platelet transfusion, so as to provide scientific data for clinical platelet gene matching transfusion strategy. 【Methods】 A total of 81 PTR patients had applied for HLA-Ⅰgene matched platelets from the platelet gene database established by our laboratory, and 28 (MFI <5 000) of them needed further avoiding of partial donor-specific antibodies and they were enrolled as the research subjects. According to the platelet MFI value of HLA-Ⅰ antibody-targeting antigen, they were divided into negative transfusion group (MFI <500) (group A) and positive transfusion groups (MFI≥500) ; the latter were further divided into group B (500≤MFI <1 000), group C (1 000≤MFI <3 000) and group D (MFI≥3 000) according to MFI value. Corrected count increment (CCI) in platelet count was used to compare the platelet transfusion effect in 4 groups. 【Results】 Among 28 platelet recipients with MFI <5 000, 19(67.86%) patients successfully received 72 effective transfusions. The first CCI (×109/L) in groups A, B, C and D were 10.27±7.46, 7.58±4.75 (P>0.05), 17.36±7.63 (P>0.05) and -0.77±2.30 (P<0.05), respectively. There was no statistical difference among group A, B and C. 【Conclusion】 The application of HLA-Ⅰ gene matching platelets in PTR patients can adjust the MFI threshold(<2 000) appropriately according to the patient′s condition without compromising the platelet transfusion effect.

Résumé

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the safety of preoxygenation with high-flow nasal oxygenation in elderly patients during induction of general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.@*METHODS@#Fifty-six elderly patients without difficult airway were randomized equally into high-flow nasal oxygen group (HF group) and conventional mask oxygen group (M group). Preoxygenation was performed for 5 min before induction of general anesthesia and endotracheal intubation. Oxygenation was maintained during laryngoscopy in HF group, and ventilation lasted until laryngoscopy in M group. For all the patients, the general data, cross-sectional area (CSA) of the gastric antrum measured by ultrasonography, arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2), arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) and arterial oxygen saturation (cSO2) were recorded before preoxygenation (T1), at 5 min of preoxygenation (T2) and immediately after intubation (T3). The safety time of asphyxia, intubation time, times of mask ventilation and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups.@*RESULTS@#The general data were comparable between the two groups. After 5 min of preoxygenation, PaO2 and cSO2 were significantly increased in both groups, and PaO2 was significantly higher in HF group than in M group (F=118.108 vs 9.511, P < 0.05). Both PaO2 and cSO2 decreased after intubation, but PaO2 decreased more slowly in HF group and still remained higher than that at T1; cSO2 decreased significantly in M group to a lower level than that at T1. Compared with those in M group, the patients in HF group showed a significantly longer safety time of asphyxia (t=5.305, P < 0.05) with fewer times of mask ventilation (χ2= 6.720, P < 0.05). PaCO2 increased after intubation in both groups but was comparable between the two groups (F=3.138, P > 0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#High-flow nasal oxygen is safe, simple and effective for pre-oxygenation, which, as compared with the conventional oxygen mask, improves arterial oxygen partial pressure and prolongs the safety time of asphyxia to ensure the safety of airway management during induction of general anesthesia in elderly patients with endotracheal intubation.
