Résumé

A prospective study on cases of Viper bite was carried out in the Renal Dialysis Unit, YGH, with a view to correlate clinical features to that of clinical outcome. The study period of one year began from 1st September 1993 to 30 th August 1994 and a total of (107) patients were included in the study. All the patients were admitted to the Yangon General Hospital Dialysis Unit directly or were referred to later. During their stay in the ward, the clinical features and biochemical status were closely monitored. About 42 percent of the patients underwent peritoneal - dialysis (P.D) and the rest recovered with conservative treatment. Factors determining the line of management (whether peritoneal dialysis would be needed or not) were studied. The outcome of patients who required and those who did not require P.D. were also studied and compared. Causes of death were also analysed.
