Résumé

We present a case with rare complication of percutaneous vertebroplasty with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). A pulmonary embolus was detected in a 79-year-old woman with osteoporotic compression fracture after percutaneous verteroplasty. Chest radiography, computed tomography, and ventilation perfusion lung scan con-firmed pulmonary infarction and the presence of PMMA in the pulmonary arteries. She was treated with anticoagulants and responded favorably. Although venous leakage of PMMA has shown to be not uncommon, only a few cases of symptomatic pulmonary embolism have been reported. Adequate preparation of PMMA, optimal injection technique, and confirmation with biplane fluoroscopy are mandatory to minimize this type of complication.

Résumé

Residual aneurysm is a challenging problem after clipping procedure for the aneurysms. The anthors describe one patient in whom endovascular treatment was sucessfully done to treat residual aneurysm after surgical clipping. We discussed the role of endovascular coil occlusion in case of incomplete surgical obliteration of aneurysms.

Résumé

The most cornmon obstruction of left ventricular outflow in childhood is produced either by a fibrous ring below the aortic valve, or by localized or diffuse muscular hypertrophy of the inter-ventricular septum. Cardiac tumors causing subaortic stenosis in the newborn infant are extremely rare. This report describes two cases of subaortic stenosis caused by a tumor of the left ventricle in newborn infants, both diagnosed by 2-dimensional echocardiography. In one patient, the obstructive portion of the tumor was successfully resected from its attachment to the ventricular septum by aortotomy on day 5. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of rhabdomyoma. This patient developed cutaneous, neurologic and radiologic abnormalities of tuberous sclerosis during the follow-up of 42 months.
