Résumé

Regional anesthesia has become the primary anesthetic technique in management of trauma cases and is reported to have several advantages over general anesthesia. However, it is contraindicated in the presence of conditions associated with coagulopathy e.g. disseminated intravascular coagulation [DIG]. While sepsis and trauma are more common causes of DIG, physicians must also be aware of rare causes like haematological malignancy

Résumé

Ganglion cysts are tumor-like lesions in the soft tissues, generated by mucoid degeneration of the joint capsule, tendon or tendon sheaths on the dorsum of hand, wrist and foot. However, an intratendinous origin for a ganglion cyst is extremely rare. During dissection of the popliteal fossa, a cyst of 2.5 cmx2 cmx0.5 cm was observed in the tendon of right semimembranosus, 3.5 cm above the insertion of the muscle. Contrast X-ray revealed the cyst as not communicating with the knee joint or any adjacent bursae. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of ganglion cyst.

Résumé

This case report describes the clinical, radiological and histopathological features of the Jaffe-Campanacci syndrome as seen in a 6-year-old Qatari male patient who was initially misdiagnosed as a case of systemic neurofibromatosis. Our case has all the diagnostic stigmata of Jaffe-Campanacci syndrome as described in the literature and these include cafe au lait macules, skeletal deformities and multiple histologically confirmed non-ossifying fibromas of the long bones
