Résumé

Liver enzymes ALT, AST, alkaline phosphalase and serum bilirubin show a transient elevation after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The cause is not clear but it may be due to bile duct kink, use of electrocautry on the liver surface, squeeze effect on the liver by upward traction on the gall bladder fundus or due to pneumoperitoneum created for the laparoscopic procedure. The enzymes returne to normal within 72 hours In this work we will study the effect of each factor on the liver enzymes level separetly to detect the cause and significance of this enzymatic disturbances

Résumé

Cremster muscle excision in repair of inguinal hernias is controversial. Its excision intrrupts an important collateral to the testicle naemly the cremaster artery. If the cremasteric artery is a major contributer to the testicular blood supply, its ligation may result in ischemic orchitis. In this study we compared incidence of ischemnic orchitis with cremasteric artery preservation in 66 patients underwent. Marcy repair for groin hernia and the incidence of this complication when the artery is sacrified with the cremater muscle. We found a lower incidence of ischemic architis when the lower lateral flap of the cremster muscle was preserved. It was also found that the incidence of groin pain is less in this group of patients

Résumé

Zinc is one of the most important trace elements of the body chemistry. The concentration of zinc in plasma decrease rapidly when a low zinc diet is fed. Egyptian population are - generally speaking - zinc deficient. Zinc promote wounds re-epithelialization and healing. In tins controlled study we observed the healing of anal wounds after anal surgery in a group of patients recieving oral zinc sulfate 4-6 weeks prior to surgery. We compared the results to those who underwent the same surgery without zinc suplementation. We also used topical zinc oxide creams to dress the anal wounds. We noticed a marked improvement in healing of wounds in the study group than in the control group
