Résumé

Ewing's sarcoma and Ewing-like sarcoma are highly invasive sarcomas predominantly characterized by the presence of small round cells. Although certain morphological and immunophenotypical characteristics are similar between the two sarcomas, there are obvious differences in the disease sites, clinical manifestations, prognoses, and treatment responses. Additionally, Ewing-like sarcomas lack the typical molecular characteristics of Ewing's sarcoma. A growing body of evidence shows that Ewing-like sarcomas constitute a different disease type with unique characteristics, and are not just a subtype of Ewing's sarcoma. The discovery of novel molecular genetic tests has significantly aided the reevaluation of the classification of small round cell tumors. This article aims to review the recent progress in the research on Ewing's sarcoma and the major subclasses of Ewing-like sarcoma characterized thus far: CIC rearrangement sarcoma, BCOR rearrangement sarcoma, non-ETS family gene rearrangement sarcoma, and undifferentiated small round cell sarcoma.

Résumé

Objective@#To explore the application effect of fine needle aspiration cytology and sentinel lymph nodes stain assisted by contrast-enhanced ultrasound in early breast cancer.@*Methods@#A patient with early breast cancer enrolled in Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University received fine needle aspiration cytology assisted by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and the sentinel lymph nodes were stained with blue dye before a standard sentinel lymph nodes biopsy traced with indocyanine green. The axillary status accessed by these two methods were compared.@*Results@#Three sentinel lymph nodes were found and aspirated assisted by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography. Seven sentinel lymph nodes were obtained in sentinel lymph nodes biopsy surgery. All of these sentinel lymph nodes were negative. The stained sentinel lymph nodes could be recognized and dissected in open lymph nodes biopsy surgery.@*Conclusions@#Fine needle aspiration cytology assisted by contrast-enhanced ultrasonography could be a substitute for open sentinel lymph nodes biopsy. More related researches should be carry out to further compare these two methods.

Résumé

OBJECTIVETo investigate the mode of presentation, cytologic features of the plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC), and the expression of CD123 and its significance in Kikuchi's disease.

METHODSCD123 expression was evaluated by EliVision immunohistochemical staining in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues from 30 cases of Kikuchi's disease, 5 cases of T cell lymphoma, 10 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia and 10 cases of chronic tonsillitis.

RESULTSClusters of CD123 positive PDC were observed in Kikuchi's disease (28 of 30 cases, 93.3%) and the staining intensity was more prominent in the PDC at the periphery of the lesion and around the high endothelial venule-like vessels. CD123 showed three staining patterns: membranous (10 cases, 33.3%), cytoplasmic (10 cases, 33.3%), and membranous and cytoplasmic (8 cases, 26.7%). In the control group, CD123 showed cytoplasmic staining in reactive hyperplasia and chronic tonsillitis. Regarding the staining intensity, 12 of 28 cases (42.9%) were 3+ for CD123, 8 of 28 cases (28.6%) were 2+, and 8 of 28 cases (28.6%) were 1+. In contrast, PDC clusters with 1+ staining intensity were observed in 1 of 10 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia; 2 of 10 chronic tonsillitis diseases; and much less in T cell lymphoma.

CONCLUSIONSLarge cluster of PDC is detected in both proliferative and necrotizing types of Kikuchi's disease, making this a useful adjunctive diagnostic marker.
