A espacialidade da memória nas Confissões de Agostinho / The spatiality of the memory in Augustine's Confessions

O tema da memória constitui uma das bases do pensamento teológico, filosófico e psicológico de Agostinho de Hipona. A relevância dessa faculdade pode ser observada no livro X das Confissões. Em poucas linhas, o que Agostinho se propõe neste livro é justamente explorar a própria memória em busca de Deus. Ao buscar Deus dentro da memória, Agostinho acaba desenvolvendo uma concepção da memória de grande importância na história dos saberes no Ocidente: o eu entendido enquanto espaço interior ou como espaço íntimo. Procuraremos reconstruir e detalhar a série de argumentos propostos por Agostinho a respeito do tema da memória e observar em que sentido ela é entendida metaforicamente como um espaço compartimentado. Finalmente, procuraremos mostrar a relevância e atualidade desta metáfora no modo como atualmente se compreende a memória.(AU)

The theme of memory is one of the foundations of theological, philosophical, and psychological thought of Augustine of Hippo. The relevance of this faculty can be observed in book X of the Confessions. In a few lines, what Augustine intends in this book is to precisely explore his own memory searching for God. By seeking God in the memory, Augustine ends up developing a concept of memory of great importance in the history of knowledge in the West: "I" understood as "inner space" or intimate space. We will seek to rebuild and detail the set of arguments offered by Augustine on the subject of memory and observe in what sense it is understood metaphorically as a compartmentalized space. Finally, we will show the relevance and actuality of this metaphor in the way we understand the memory nowadays.(AU)

A fonte autobiográfica como recurso para a apreensão do processo de elaboração da experiência na história dos saberes psicológicos / Autobiographical source as a resource for apprehending the process of elaborating experience in the history of psychological knowledge

O artigo discute a pertinência da fonte autobiográfica como material documentário para a reconstituição histórica dos saberes psicológicos no âmbito da cultura, à luz das propostas de alguns autores contemporâneos a respeito deste tema (Zambrano, Courcelle, Hadot, Gurevic). Nesta perspectiva, relata também algumas etapas importantes da história deste gênero literário, tendo como ponto de partida a contribuição de Agostinho de Hipona, sua influência ao longo da Idade Média e as continuidades e as transformações do gênero na Idade Moderna (Montaigne, Cardano, Vico, Teresa de Ávila, Rousseau).(AU)

The article discusses the pertinence of autobiographical source as a document for the reconstruction of the history of psychological knowledge in the culture realm, under the light of the proposals of some contemporaneous writers who address this theme (Zambrano, Courcelle, Hadot, Gurevic). From this perspective, the article also deepens some important stages of the history of the genre, taking as its starting point the contribution of Augustine of Hippo, his fortune during the Middle Ages, and the continuities and transformations of genre in the Modern Age (Montaigne, Cardano, Vico, Teresa de Avila, Rousseau).(AU)
