Da produção artística dos alienados: histórias de teorias e práticas do alienismo brasileiro, 1852-1902 / On the artistic production of the alienated: history of theories and practices of Brazilian alienism, 1852-1902

Resumo O artigo trata da presença de manifestações artísticas de internos do Hospício de Pedro II, primeira instituição psiquiátrica da América Latina (1852-1902). O referencial metodológico escolhido centrou-se na historicização dos processos de enquadramento das doenças mentais, com vistas a demonstrar suas consequências para a noção de sujeito e da arte que ele produz e no processo de circulação desses saberes no Brasil. O conceito de mal de arquivo, de Derrida, foi utilizado para analisar os motivos pelos quais tais manifestações e as terapêuticas utilizadas a partir delas foram ignoradas pelas narrativas locais acerca das manifestações artísticas de indivíduos internados em asilos.

Abstract The article deals with the presence of artistic manifestations of inmates of the Hospício de Pedro II, the first psychiatric institution in Latin America (1852-1902). The methodological framework chosen focused on the historicisation of the framing processes of mental illness, in order to demonstrate its consequences for the notion of the subject and the art he produces and in the process of circulation of this knowledge in Brazil. Derrida's concept of archive fever was used to analyse the reasons why such manifestations and the therapies used based on them were ignored by local narratives about the artistic manifestations of individuals in asylums.

As mulheres da colônia de alienadas do engenho de dentro / The women of the alienated volony of engenho de dentro

O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a transferência das 334 mulheres indigentes da seção Esquirol, ala do Hospício Nacional de Alienados, para a Colônia de Alienadas do Engenho de Dentro. A hipótese é a de que a criação da colônia, em 1911, foi a ratificação de uma política de tratamento que extrapolou o saber psiquiátrico e fez confluir temas e discursos diversos, tais como feminilidade, republicanismo, trabalho e pobreza. Na análise desse campo, através do conceito bakhtiniano de dialogia, espera-se compreender a participação do ideário psiquiátrico nas formulações que marcaram a compreensão acerca da mulher pobre durante a primeira república e inserir o aparecimento destas ideias no conjunto de instrumentos de regulação social que precisaram ser reconstruídos.

This work investigated the transfer of 334 destitute women from Esquirol's section, wing of the National Hospice of Alienated, to the Alienated Colony of Engenho de Dentro. The hypothesis is that the creation of the colony in 1911 was the ratification of a treatment policy that extrapolated psychiatric knowledge and brought together diverse themes and discourses, such as femininity, republicanism, work and poverty. In the analysis of this field, throught the bakhtinian concept of dialogue, it is hoped to understand the participation of psychiatric ideals in the formulations that marked the understanding about poor woman during the first republic and to insert the appearance of these ideas in the set of instruments of social regulation that needed to be reconstructed.

Sofrimento psíquico e trabalho intelectual / Psychic suffering and intellectual work

Este estudo tem como objetivo compreender se o trabalho intelectual propicia condições de surgimento do sofrimento psíquico no docente universitário em uma instituição pública de ensino superior. Utiliza-se dos pressupostos filosóficos do materialismo histórico, do trabalho enquanto categoria nuclear de análise sobre os fenômenos humanos, bem como das categorias de trabalho alienado e trabalho intelectual. Recorre-se também à categoria de doença mental enquanto produção social. Os sujeitos da pesquisa são docentes com contratos de trabalho em regime de dedicação exclusiva (RDIDP). Utiliza-se como instrumento de coleta de dados questionário com questões fechadas e abertas, de caráter opinativo. As respostas foram categorizadas e analisadas qualitativamente e não se teve pretensão de conferir tratamento estatístico aos dados. Entretanto, tendo em vista a sua melhor visualização, são apresentados percentuais do conjunto de casos, entre os quais, cerca de um terço (29,6 por cento) apresentam algum problema de saúde após o ingresso na universidade. Desses, 15,5 por cento são relacionados à organização do trabalho, 5,6 por cento às condições de trabalho e 2,8 por cento concomitantemente às condições e à organização do trabalho. Os resultados apontam que a organização do trabalho em uma universidade pública mostrou-se não só como espaço de produção do sofrimento psíquico, como também de alienação.

This study aims to understand if intellectual work provides conditions for the emergence of psychic suffering in university teachers in a public institution of higher education. Use is made of the philosophical assumptions of historical materialism, work as a category of nuclear analysis of human phenomena, and also the categories of alienated labor and intellectual work. It also refers to mental illnesses as a social production. The research subjects were teachers with contracts of employment in exclusive dedication (RDIDP). It is used as an instrument for data collection, a questionnaire with closed and opened questions of opinative character. Responses were categorized and analyzed qualitatively and had not intention of giving statistical data. However, in order to better display, the same percentage of the sample are presented, among which one third (29.6 percent) have some health problem after entering university. Of those, 15,5 percent are related to the organization of work, 5,6 percent to the working conditions, 2,8 percent concomitantly to the conditions and the organization of work. The results indicate that the organization of work in a public university has shown itself as a space of psychic suffering, but also of alienation.
