Résumé

Objective: To analyze the incidence and survival rate of liver cancer cases in the entire population in the Qidong region from 1972 to 2019, so as to provide a basis for prognosis evaluation, prevention, and treatment. Methods: The observed survival rate (OSR) and relative survival rate (RSR) of 34 805 cases of liver cancer in the entire Qidong region population from 1972 to 2019 were calculated using Hakulinen's method with SURV3.01 software. Hakulinen's likelihood ratio test was used for statistical analysis. Age-standardized relative survival (ARS) was calculated using the International Cancer Survival Standard. The Joinpoint regression analysis was performed with Joinpoint 4.7.0.0 software to calculate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) of the liver cancer survival rate. Results: 1-ASR increased from 13.80% in 1972-1977 to 50.20% in 2014-2019, while 5-ASR increased from 1.27% in 1972-1977 to 27.64% in 2014-2019. The upward trend of RSR over eight periods was statistically significant (χ (2) = 3045.29, P < 0.001). Among them, male 5-ASR was 0.90%, 1.80%, 2.33%, 4.92%, 5.43%, 7.05%, 10.78%, and 27.78%, and female 5-ASR was 2.33%, 1.51%, 3.35%, 3.92%, 3.84%, 7.18%, 11.45%, and 29.84%, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in RSR between males and females (χ (2) = 45.68, P < 0.001). The 5-RSR for each age group of 25-34 years old, 35-44 years old, 45-54 years old, 55-64 years old, 65-74 years old, and 75 years old were 4.92%, 5.29%, 8.17%, 11.70%, 11.63%, and 9.60%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in RSR among different age groups (χ (2) = 501.29, P < 0.001). The AAPC in Qidong region from 1972 to 2019 for 1-ARS, 3-ASR, and 5-ARS were 5.26% (t = 12.35, P < 0.001), 8.10% (t = 15.99, P < 0.001), and 8.96 % (t = 16.06, P < 0.001), respectively. The upward trend was statistically significant in all cases. The AAPC of 5-ARS was 9.82% in males (t = 14.14, P < 0.001), and 8.79% in females (t = 11.48, P < 0.001), and the upward trend was statistically significant in both. The AAPC of 25-34 years old, 35-44 years old, 45-54 years old, 55-64 years old, 65-74 years old, and 75 years old were 5.37% (t = 5.26, P = 0.002), 5.22% (t = 5.66, P = 0.001), 7.20% (t = 6.88, P < 0.001), 10.00% (t = 12.58, P < 0.001), 9.96% (t = 7.34, P < 0.001) and 8.83% (t = 3.51, P = 0.013), and the upward trend was statistically significant. Conclusion: The overall survival rate of registered cases of liver cancer in the Qidong region's entire population has greatly improved, but there is still much room for improvement. Hence, constant attention should be paid to the study on preventing and treating liver cancer.

Many clinicians have the following 4 misconceptions about the incidence and epedemil trend of gallbladder cancer.(1) The incidence of gallbladder cancer and extrahepatic bile duct carcinoma is considered as the incidence of gallbladder cancer.(2) The gallbladder cancer is the common malignant tumor of the digestive system.(3) The gallbladder cancer is the most common malignant tumor of biliary tract system.(4) The incidence of gallbladder cancer is increasing year by year.Based on the latest annual report of the 2016 Chinese Cancer Registry Annual Report,published by the National Cancer Center (NCCR),combined with previous annual reports and the data of the incidence of gallbladder and extrahepatic bile duct cancer in the related articles,supplemented by clinical data,the author points out that the incidence of gallbladder cancer in China is about 1.00-1.30 per 100 000.It is pointed out that gallbladder cancer is not the most common cancer in the digestive and biliary systems.The incidence of gallbladder cancer has not been significantly increased in recent years,and its 5-year relative survival rate has been reduced by 0.9% since 2003.Although the incidence of gallbladder cancer is low,the malignant degree is high and the prognosis is poor.It highlights the lack of effective treatment for the disease,and further hints that we should strengthen the necessity of early diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder cancer.

Objective@#Lung cancer incidence and mortality were estimated by sorting and analyzing the national cancer registration data in 2013.@*Methods@#Lung cancer data of 2013 were retrieved from the database of 255 qualified cancer registries. Lung cancer incidence and mortality rates in cancer registration areas in 2013 were estimated by areas (urban/rural), gender and age groups, new lung cancer cases and deaths were estimated using age-specific rates by areas and gender using the corresponding population in 2013. Lung cancer incidence and mortality rates in China in 2013 were calculated based on the estimated new cancer cases and deaths and the corresponding population. The Chinese population in 2000 and Segi′s world population were used to calculate age-standardized rates.@*Results@#It was estimated that there were about 732.8 thousand new lung cancer cases and 580.7 thousand deaths occurred in China in 2013. The crude incidence rate was 53.86/105(males 70.10/105, females 36.78/105), while age-standardized incidence rate by Chinese standard populations (ASIRC) and by world standard populations (ASIRW) were 36.19/105 and 36.09/105 with the cumulative incidence rate (0-74 years old) of 4.42%.The crude mortality rate was 43.41/105(males 57.64/105, females 28.45/105), and age-standardized mortality rate by Chinese standard populations (ASMRC) and by world standard populations (ASMRW) were 28.64/105 and 28.41/105 with the cumulative incidence rate (0-74 years old) of 3.34%.Both incidence and mortality rates were higher in males than in females. Crude incidence and mortality rates were slightly higher in urban areas than in rural areas, but after age standardized, the results were opposite.@*Conclusions@#Lung cancer is the common cancer, which both incidence and mortality rates are ranking first in China, and the burden of the disease is heavy. Comprehensive measures towards risk factors control, cancer early diagnosis and treatment should be strengthened continuously.

Background and purpose:There are few studies referring to population-based cancer survival of bladder cancer for more than forty years in China. This paper was to offer basis for assessing long-term survival trends of bladder cancer and the prognosis of this cancer through analysis of the survival rates based on cancer report documents from 1972 to 2011 in Qidong.Methods:The deadline of the last follow-up for survival status of the 1 619 registered cases was Apr. 2012. Cumulative observed survival rate (OS) and relative survival rate (RS) were calculated using Hakulinen’s method performed by the SURV3.01 Software which is developed by Finnish Cancer Registry.Results:The one-, three-, five-, ten-, fifteen-, twenty-, and thirty-year OS rates were 59.91%, 43.49%, 35.98%, 26.91%, 21.30%, 18.37% and 12.24%; and the one-, three-, five-, ten-, fifteen-, twenty-, and thirty-year RS rates were 64.07%, 53.02%, 50.06%, 52.42%, 59.59%, 76.39% and 115.75%, respectively. For males, these OS rates were 60.84%, 43.91%, 36.95%, 27.31%, 21.49%, 18.29% and 12.59%, and RS rates were 65.23%, 53.95%, 52.02%, 54.57%, 62.59%, 79.12% and 117.07%, respectively; For females, these OS rates were 56.61%, 42.03%, 32.44%, 25.65%, 20.78%, 18.80% and 0%, and RS rates, 59.99%, 49.91%, 43.37%, 45.86%, 51.21%, 69.02% and 0%, respectively. There were no statistical differences couldbe found between both sexes (P=0.256). Five-year RS rates of age groups 15-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and more than 75 were 49.10%, 67.53%, 62.77%, 53.92%, 46.59% and 39.85%, and 10-year RS rates, 49.79%, 61.23%, 52.99%, 48.21%, 54.94% and 51.21%, respectively. Remarkable improvement could be seen for the five-, ten-, and fifteen-year RS rates in this setting since 1980’s.Conclusion:The survival outcome from Qidong registered cases with bladder cancer shows gradual progress during the past 2 decades. Early detection and improvement of therapies may be the factors affecting the prognosis of bladder cancer. Although the disparities in survival rates between Qidong and the developed countries are getting narrower, potential for survival improvement still exists.

Objective To analyze the incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancers from 32 cancer registration centers,2003 to 2007.Methods Data from 32 eligible cancer registries were included in this study.Both crude and age-standardized incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancers from 2003 to 2007 were calculated and stratified by area and gender.Age-stratified incidence and mortality,as well as the proportions of new and death cases of oral and pharyngeal cancer were also calculated at each site.Results Mouth,tongue and salivary gland were the most predilcction sitcs of oral and pharyngeal cancers.The crude incidence for both oral and pharyngeal cancers was 3.15/105 from 2003 to 2007.The age-standardized incidence rates using the Chinese population (1982) and the World Segi' s population were 1.75/105 and 2.26/105.The crude mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer was 1.37/105 from 2003 to 2007; with age-standardized mortality rates,using the Chinese population (1982) and the World Segi' s population were 0.69/105 and 0.94/105.Both incidence and mortality were higher in males than in females,higher in urban than in rural areas,and ascended with age.Age-standardized incidence and mortality in Zhongshan city ranked first among all the cancer registration areas.Age-standardized incidences by gender and area increased slightly from 2003 to 2007,while age-standardized mortalities were stable.Conclusion Although the incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer were low in China from 2003 to 2007,attention should also be paid since the exposure of relative risk factors did not seem to have reduced and the incidence increased slightly.

Objective: To describe the incidence and mortality of female breast cancer in China during 2003-2007. Methods: The incidence and mortality data of female breast cancer and the corresponding population data from 32 eligible cancer registries in China during 2003-2007 were collected and analyzed. Results: The combined crude incidence rate of female breast cancer during 2003-2007 was 41.64 per 100 000, which was the highest among female cancer incidence rates. The combined crude mortality rate of female breast cancer was 9.63 per 100 000, which was ranked as the sixth among the mortality rates of all female cancers. The incidence rate was 3.04 times higher and the mortality rate was 1.92 times higher in urban areas than those in rural areas. Compared to the incidence and mortality rates of 184 regions provided from GLABOCAN 2008 database, the female breast cancer incidence in China was ranked as the one hundred and tenth, and the mortality was ranked as the one hundred and seventy-second. Conclusion: Breast cancer has been becoming one of the most common cancers among Chinese women. The incidence and mortality rates of female breast cancer in urban areas are significantly higher than those in rural areas, although the overall incidence and mortality rates of breast cancer in Chinese women are still at a medium or low level in the world. © 2012 by Tumor.

Objective To describe and analyze the characteristics and trend of liver cancer,through data gathered from the Cancer Registry System,in China.Methods Annual registration data on cancer incidents and deaths of 2003-2007,from 32 cancer registries were employed.Crude rates of incidence and mortality,and age-standardized rates by the China population (ASRc) and the world population (ASRw) were calculated.Incidence and mortality rates by age,gender,and by area (urban or rural) were analyzed,and comparison was made internationally,based upon data from the GLOBOCAN 2008.Results The total person-years of 2003-2007 observed from the 32 cancer registries were 255 430 909,in which 197 651 428 from the urban areas,and 57 779 481 from the rural areas.A total of 68 146 incident cases with liver cancer were reported,which accounted for 10.03%(ranked second) of all the registered cases with cancers,with the average annual incidence as 26.68per 100 000 (39.42 in males,13.63 in females).ASRc and ASRw were 13.29 per 100 000 and 17.45per 100 000,respectively.Sex ratios for incidence and mortality were 2.89:1 and 2.72:1,respectively.Incidence rates were 23.91 per 100 000 in urban areas,and 36.15 per 100 000 in rural areas.For mortality rates,they were 22.39 per 100 000 m urban areas and 34.05 per 100 000 in rural areas,respectively.Relative greater differences could be seen amongst these registries.The incidence rates were 10.15-33.85 per 100 000 in the urban areas,and 11.83-78.59 per 100 000 in the rural areas.For mortality rates,they were 13.99-28.45 per 100 000 in urban areas,and 11.02-71.99 per 100 000 in rural areas.According to data from the 184 cancer registries through GLOBOCAN 2008,liver cancer incidence in China was ranked the 5th in males,and 6th in females while mortality was ranked 2nd in males,and 5th in females.Conclusion Liver cancer had been the second most leading malignancy,following lung cancer,with annual incidents and death cases around 360 000 and 350 000,respectively and the figures seemed to be increasing.Nationwide monitoring and research programs on liver cancer should be emphasized.

Résumé

Objective To evaluate this disease' s incident trend for Shanxi province through hospital-based statistics. Methods Breast cancer data was obtained from the department of radiology in Shanxi cancer hospital for the period 2005-2007. Results Between 2005 and 2007, the numbers of women who accepted mammography rapidly increased from 533 to 1975. 62 women had been diagnosed as breast cancer in 2005, while this number had reached to 400 in 2007. The proportion of breast malignancies during this three year periods had statistically increased with 11.6 %, 17.8 %, and 20.3 % respectively (P<0.001). The mean age of breast cancer patients was older than benign disease patients (50 vs 42.8, P<0.001). The highest breast cancer age group was those aged 45 to 54 (37.6 %). Left breast cancer was higher than right side (53.4 % vs 46 %). Most histological type was invasive ductal carcinoma (78.95 %). The proportion of invasive lobular carcinoma and duetal carcinoma in situ were 8.7 % and 5.4 % respectively. Conclusion Breast cancer incidence rate has been increased in our city. These results are consistent with previous similar studies. Thus, it is essential to establish population cancer incidence registration and develop clinical data system. This will result in better understanding of cancer incidence trends and benefit in the evaluation of the effective cancer control measures.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to estimate the completeness of cancer registration with Capture-recapture method. METHODS: The study was conducted in the population based cancer registry of Kwangju, Korea, for which there are three main sources of notification: reports by Korean Central Cancer Registry, reports by pathology data, and the others reports by radiology data, death certificates, etc. The defined cases in three sources were matched by 13 digits Resident Register Number. To derive an estimates, log-linear models were applicated. RESULTS: Overall completeness was estimated to be around 93%. There was some variation with age(consistently high levels below age group 60-74 years, a minimum of 88.6% above 75 years). Among the most common cancer sites, estimates of completeness were highest for thyroid cancer(97.1%), while lower estimates of completeness were derived for stomach cancer(92.3%), liver cancer(92.6%). CONCLUSIONS: Careful application of Capture-recapture method may provide an alternative to traditional approaches for estimating the completeness of cancer registration in Kwangju city.
