Résumé

With the use of integrated nutrient management, cauliflower the growth and yield can be boosted. Due to their complementing effects, the ideal combination of different organic and inorganic sources of nutrients may significantly boost cauliflower growth and yield. The experiment consisted of 13 treatments viz. T1= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha (Recommended dose of NPKS as control), T2= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + CD (5 t/ha), T3= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha), T4= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + MSC (4 t/ha), T5= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + CD (5 t/ha), T6= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha), T7= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + MSC (4 t/ha), T8= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + CD (5 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha), T9= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha), T10= N120P60K100S20 kg/ha + MSC (4 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha), T11= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + CD (5 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha), T12= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha) and T13= N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + MSC (4 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) having single factor with three replications. Data were recorded on growth, yield components of cauliflower and significant variation was observed for most of the studied characters. Under this investigation, it was revealed that the highest yield (36.34 t/ha) with net return (Tk. 524202) and BCR (3.59) was obtained from T12 (N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha) + Bio. (5 kg/ha) treatment. On the other hand, the lowest yield (13.50 t/ha) with net return (Tk. 137869) and BCR (2.04) was obtained from T1 (N120P60K100S20 kg/ha) treatment. So, economic analysis revealed that T12 (N120P60K100S20B0.6Mo0.54 kg/ha + VC (4 t/ha) + Bio-fertilizer (5 kg/ha) treatment appeared to be the best for achieving the higher growth, yield and economic benefit of cauliflower.

Résumé

Understanding the genetic basis of biochemical traits of different cauliflower genotypes is essential for planning the effective breeding strategies in genetic improvement. To determine the mode of inheritance of dry matter content and biochemical traits, we made crosses using four genotypes of cauliflower, and obtained F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 populations. The six generations obtained were replicated thrice and evaluated in a randomized block design. The generation mean analysis of data showed the presence of duplicate epistasis in dry matter content which suggested the adoption of reciprocal recurrent selection and biparental mating for the improvement of the trait. However, in case of vitamin C, complementary type of epistasis was reported in three crosses, which indicated the exploitation of heterosis breeding of enhancing vitamin C. It can be concluded that the role of gene action was in general more complex for the traits studied. The nature and magnitude of gene effects varies character-wise as well as cross-wise. Hence, for the improvement of dry matter content and biochemical traits in a particular cross, a specific breeding strategy has to be implemented.

Résumé

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are beneficial rhizobacteria which enhance plant growth as well as the productivity by a variety of mechanisms. PGPR were isolated from the rhizosphere region of som plants (Machilus bombycina King) maintained at the Central Muga Eri Research and Training Institute, Lahdoigarh, Jorhat. A bacterial based bioformulation was prepared and sprayed over the experimental crops including tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var botrytis), chili (Capsicum annuum) and brinjal (Solanum melongena). Biochemical analysis was done on these PGPR treated crops as well as the untreated crops. The bioformulations prepared from Bacillus cereus (MTCC 8297), Pseudomonas rhodesiae (MTCC 8299) and Pseudomonas rhodesiae (MTCC 8300) was found to be the most effective in increasing the shoot height, number of leaves, early fruiting and total biomass content of the plants after treatment.

Résumé

Acute auricular hematoma is a common problem in wrestlers, boxers and secondary to trauma such as traffic accident. Early intervention can be limited to simple incision and drainage. Delay in treatment may allow the growth of ectopic fibroneocartilage derived from the damaged perichondrium and it can subsequently cause the unsightly cauliflower ear. Few paper deal with histopathologic analysis of removed excess cartilage fragment. Usual findings are cartilagenous tissue surrounded by fibrous tissue with hemosiderin deposits or cicatrix and foci of cartilage formation. But this case shows degenerative cartilage with osseous metaplasia and it has a stony hard consistency and is clinically a rare disease. The ear cartilage were exposed anteriorly and posteriorly. The deformed cartilage and bony tissue were removed and shaved to restore a normal form. The elevated cutaneous flap was sutured and silastic drainage was applied. We described histopathologic finding and surgical treatment of cauliflower ear with osseous metaplasia.

Résumé

Objective To investigate the antiradiation effect of sinapine in Drosophita. Method Sinapine in cauliflower was quantified by HPLC, and added in Drosophila culture substrate. We observed the effect of sinapine from cauliflower on reproductive rate, sex ratio, mutation rate of Drosophila after UV radiation. Results Sinapine in cauliflower contained 4.429 ?g/ml thiocyanate. After adding sinapine thiocyanate 0.29075 mg/ml to the media,the reproductive rate of UV irradiated Drosophila culture increased 27.083%, the sex ratio (female/male) and mutation rate declined 23.457% and 97.202% respectively, and the growth cycle became normal again. Conclusion Cauliflower’s sinapine thiocynate has quite favorable anti-radiation function.

Résumé

India has maximum genetic materials in early cauliflower, which grow in subtropical conditions. Different disease parameters like linear growth, maximum growth rate per day, AUDPC, apparent infection rate and percent diseased area were calculated in artificially inoculated plants. Apparent infection rate is not co-related with the black rot disease incidence and should never be considered during characterization of disease resistance and varietal screening. Based on the above disease parameters Kunwari-18, Phool Gobhi Kunwari, Kataki-7 and BT-10-2 were selected as moderately resistance to black rot in early cauliflower. These lines can be used for black rot prone area and also for black rot disease improvement programme. Considering the qualitative and quantitative parameters, slow rotting resistance cauliflower lines are selected as such for cultivation and would be best suited in integrated disease programme.

Résumé

Objective To study the prevention and surgical treatment of the cauliflower ear.Meth-ods A treatment involved total excision of the newly formed fibrocartilaginous layer in the seven cauli-flower ears of six patients according to the Bruns and Ohlsen.The operation involved excising and thinning deformed cartilage until the antihelix and crura were highlighted.Results An acceptable cosmet-ic result was achieved from the surgical techniques in seven cauliflower ears.Conclusion The newly formed fibrocartilage and the involved perichondrium must be totally removed to achieve the good results.

Résumé

Effects of squalene, algae (Enteromorpha prolifera), laver (Prophyra hai-tanensis) and cauliflower on serum total cholesterol (T-C), high density li-poprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL-C) were separatly observed in Wistar male albino rats fed on a diet containing 0.5% cholesterol,5% lard and 0.5% bile salt. Squalene was supplemented at 5% of the diet, and algae, laver, cauliflower at 10% of the diet.After the rats had been fed on the diet described above for 30 days, serum T-C, HDL-C, LDL-C and VLDL-C levels were determined. The results showed that the rats fed on a diet containing 5% squalene or 10% algae were significantly lower in serum T-C, HDL-C and VLDL-C but higher in serum HDL-C than those of the controls, and the rats fed on a diet containing 10% laver or 10% cauliflower were significantly lower in serum T-C than that of the controls.
